Depends where you live. I'd start contacting local offices if DOT, Tourism, local papers and offer a portfolio. Sure they'd welcome it. Here in NY they do open talent promos , cause it's 8 million ppl in this city. Kids art has been shown on the subway for decades. Book recommendations for ads, the city has a huge delay of tourism, yet so does the Times Sq area, my friend used to work for them. Local photographers are hired for the promos.

What do you want to gain from it? People mostly don't care who or where a photo is coming from. They look at it and continue onwards. I mean it's cool to see your photo on some magazine or website, but it'll not improve your business in any way (should that be your goal).
