How would this even work when it comes to your teammates contract extensions? Wouldn’t teammates blame you if they didn’t get the deal they wanted?

A place for NFL news, game highlights and everything that excites you about American Football.
How to lose the number 1 overall pick in 2 easy steps.
1 - Believe you're the number 1 pick and start making demands.
2 - Assume a Billionaire gives a fuck what you want, and wont out of spite move to the next guy. Cause success rate of number 1 overall picks is not great.
When this kid ends up being a bust the memes are gonna be fire
The next JeMarcus Russell.
Someone should tell him he can just buy Packers stock on eBay.
If this kid and his dad are gonna be like the Ball’s of the NFL I’m already sick of it.
Last week, an unsubstantiated rumor surfaced claiming USC’s star quarterback—widely expected to go first overall in the 2024 NFL Draft—wants an equity stake in whichever team drafts him.
Love when people read a headline and don’t even understand the article
This kids attitude is a red flag if this is true
It won’t happen because he’s not good enough and he’s got a shit attitude
This piece of shit needs to shut up
Because he hasn’t played a single NFL snap. There solved the issue why it won’t happen
Where did this story even come from?
He's already making $2.6 million as a college kiddo so it certainly seems within his earnings skill set.
Owning an NFL team takes billions. Williams does not have that and will not have the required cash, even assuming he has a lucrative and long NFL career with great investments.
Between his demeanor on and off the field during the game, as well as stupid shit being said by his dad, not to mention his poor performances against top teams, im really hoping someone else can get the first overall pick so the Bears dont take him. He just seems like an arrogant ass. Could be like Chase Claypool but at the QB spot.
That's cool people can see into the future and tell other people what they won't be able to do. I remember this skinny kid named Tom Brady that wasn’t suppose to do anything. (Sarcastic voice)
Good luck to whoever drafts this guy
Could Caleb Williams become the NFL’s first active player of the modern era to own part of his team?
No.
Because it was Rodgers
Maybe it’s just a ploy to get people to talk about him and build hype.
If that’s true, he needs to fire his hype team. This isn’t going to increase his value.
Dude hasn’t even been drafted yet and we are talking about him like he’s Mahomes
This dudes arrogance is pissing me off
That’s what happens when you go to USC, a blatant sense of entitlement
I don't watch college ball. Is this guy good enough to warrant this conversation or sniffing his own farts?
Let me save you a click: The rules
As someone else mentioned the last time something about this was posted, even if he COULD in theory be given an ownership stake by the team that drafts him, wtf happens when and if he gets traded or cut and signs with another team? Seems like a huge conflict of interest.
And I admittedly don’t watch college ball much at all, but it seems to me that 95% of these “generational” players tend to be “a player from this generation” at best.
I’m getting a vibe from him and his dad that they’re akin to…was it Haskins dad who basically monetized his sons career for his own gain?
They both see dollar signs all the way to 10+ zeros, and something tells me that’s not gonna happen.
Every single conversation about this is because this was reported by Florio with "sources". why are so many people running with a story only corroborated by florio?
LOL "here's why it won't happen"
This guy needs to play well against a decent team first. And not whine like a child when he loses. Gives me Jamarcus Russell levels-of-bust vibes.
-
This claim was never made publicly and can’t be proven to have ever actually happened. The talk about it is just clickbait at this point.
-
His stock is dropping quickly, and while he might still be the top pick, it’s far from consensus.
-
The rules prohibit it from happening.
I wish I could upvote this multiple times. I'm so sick of seeing this "story" when there's literally not one single quote of him saying this.
HIs dad, one time, kinda alluded to ONE DAY owning SOME EQUITY in a team. Yaknow, like Tom Brady does literally right now. And yet it has been twisted into "Caleb Silver-Spoon Williams Demands to be Owner of Team That Drafts Him"
God I'm thankful Stroud has been playing well is all I'm gonna say
Overlooking any reason given here as to why this won't happen, the simple answer is the only one that matters -- it sets a terrible and costly precedent. If this ever did happen, every #1 pick would expect the same treatment. It's like guaranteed contracts on steroids since they'd get paid for life, and there's no real cap on the payout.. especially considering teams keep going up in value.
I get horrible vibes from this guy. It almost feels like a forgone conclusion that he’s going to dominate the league, but how about we see it before anyone crowns his ass
This reminds me of the movie draft day. There they also looking what is wrong with the obvious pick.
This whole conversation is a live drama reimagining of the meme "big if true"
