On this post from a couple of years ago most people in the comments were saying Sean Payton will eventually go into the HOF…did he ruin his legacy by going to Denver?

His legacy is Bountygate and being on the other end of the Minneapolis Miracle. No.

No, because there's no legacy to ruin. He's Big Mike with better PR.

Enlighten me, who is Big Mike? McCarthy?

Nah. He'll always have the "they hamstrung me with the Wilson deal" excuse.

It's where coaches go to die. Broncos country, let's die!

He was played by Kevin James. That's his legacy.

Payton ruined his legacy with bountygate

[–] cjdoyle14@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

nope, his legacy of bountygate is just fine

[–] IAmPartialToRed@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He ruined his legacy by putting a bounty on Brett Favre. And yet he was still allowed to coach in the NFL.

Players win in todays nfl. What coach has a great legacy with multiple qbs? Nobody out here doing what Joe Gibbs did in the 80’s and 90’s. Belichick is just another dude without Brady. Payton is a nobody without Brees.

HOF??? I don’t see that at all

[–] in_Need_of_peace@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

No, his legacy of being a whiny bitch is firmly intact

[–] jt09874@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Everyone harping on bountygate needs to realize that basically every fucking team had some version of this whether they said it or not. It was so common. If you wanna let this ruin whatever you think his legacy should be, then you should assume that pretty much any other defense you love did it too.

Shit, the ‘85 Bears ADMITTED TO DOING IT in a documentary.

Not yet but I hope he stays around long enough to finish the job 🥹

[–] cmrn631@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

No there is still time for him to turn it around. Russ on the other hand….

I think his mouth isn’t helping, but he went into a bad situation that’s a rebuild. He’s GOING to have a few bad years; Anyone who thought otherwise wasn’t thinking.

Now, the question is if Denver will give him that time.

[–] Sufficient_Gas6866@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

His legacy is Bountygate

[–] nme_@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I think it was ruined when he cheated and was suspended for a year.

[–] kanyediditbetter@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If anything he’s just making drew Bree’s legacy that much more impressive

[–] Loyal2dagame@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Sean Payton is just like most other "great" offensive minded head coaches. Absolutely mid without an all time great qb. There are a few that would be exceptions to this.

[–] Da_Pwn_Shop@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Wait until Dennis Allen gets hired as DC for the Broncos. You can already see the longing in Allens eyes during his press conferences.

[–] glockobell@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Dude. The season isn’t over. He came into a bad situation. Just let it play out a bit more before we say anything.

Even if we beat the Chiefs this weekend (not saying we will but hypothetically) the whole narrative changes.
