It is absolutely ridiculous to me that the argument is just “it has to be fair to gamblers!”

The NFL should have never accepted a partnership with any gambling companies.

[–] Ok-Plastic-2992@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I’m all with Smith on this one. Betting and fantasy has infiltrated every part of sports. A coach shouldn’t have to disclose every detail that would impact a players performance out of concern for gamblers and fantasy players. That’s ridiculous.

[–] Billyxmac@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The fantasy football subreddit is about to implode because of this shit and I love it lol

[–] epeecolt82@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

This is fucking stupid. So god damned what. Fuck your bets. Fuck your wagers. Let the coaches run the teams how they best see fit to try to make it to the SB. That’s the goal of every team every year. Not to make sure the gamblers have solid info for placing bets.

[–] HuskerNatChamps2020@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

If it weren’t for betting and fantasy football nobody would watch the Falcons. Any given Sunday there’s better more exciting games for football fans to watch. Arthur Smith can say fuck the gamblers/fantasy owners all he wants. Sit on his high horse as the Jersey sales and TV money wash away.

[–] LiquidDookie92@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Ngl I thought it was funny. Nothing funnier than degenerate bettors getting mad their 15 leg parlay didn't hit because of a player lmao

[–] WingleDingleFingle@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

He didn't miss practice time and played in the game. I don't think any rules were broken. Does every little paper cut or headache need to be reported?

[–] --___---___-_-_@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It's ok his billionaire daddy can pay any fine if the owner doesn't want to

[–] CryptographerIll3813@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

He has not respect for my fantasy football team. What a disgrace

[–] slackator@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

How inconsiderate of Bijan to get sick on a Saturday night, doesnt he know that he has 120 hours that he can gt sick on but he must be good to go for Vegas during that 48 hour span?

[–] PigFarmer1@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Gambling isn't my problem...

[–] BigBlackSabbathFlag@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The tidal wave of sports wagering being shoved in my face enjoys the chaos these type of problems creates for the league. I don't think integrity is of the most concern for them, what could it be?

[–] PigFarmer1@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Pretty soon the league will have gambling reps in every team's locker room...

[–] Fubzee@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Typical billionaire behavior

[–] Elegant_Spot_3486@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

My understanding is it went against the rules. You can question the rule but that doesn’t change it.

[–] AkaSpaceCowboy@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

So the nfl is subject to gambling but nobody involved in the NFL can gamble?

Your teams strategy is less important than letting the betters know what's going on with each player.

[–] rufusjonz@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

If the Falcons had lost that game, so many people taking Art Smith's side would be a lot less empathetic to this pos

[–] goomyman@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Or don’t associate your game directly with gambling

[–] Spezisaspastic@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah rather do a Zach Taylor and keep players on Questionable for 10 weeks.

[–] willydillydoo@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I play fantasy, and I played against Tyler this week, so it at least affected my fantasy football stuff this week.

With that out of the way.

This is a non issue. Bijan was active and participated this game. What rule is there that says that Bijan has to get the lions share of touches? Or what rules says that the Falcons have to announce that Bijan won’t get the lions share? Bijan was active on the roster and didn’t play. That’s true of a lot of the roster.

Do I also need to be informed about whether or not Clark Phillips III is gonna get any snaps?

This is a stupid story.

[–] maxevans@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

im heavily involved in all three worlds (fantasy, gambling, football) and the funniest thing about this uproar is that the large majority of betters and fantasy players aren’t aware that unfair advantages and insider info that make this look microscopic in comparison happens every single week. they just don’t even know they’re being swindled so we don’t get the /r/fantasyfootball threads and /r/sportsbook threads.

[–] mrbasil_fawlty@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I want live body sensors on professional players so that we can see if they are ill

And if Taylor Swift is getting banged

[–] missskins@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Bijian played. He wasn’t questionable, he played. In the past you’d say he was probable to play. They don’t have that designation anymore. Some people may be salty but the rules were followed. If the probable designation was still there media would have asked about it.

[–] ACW1129@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

God forbid the gamblers don't get their way.

[–] ScissorMeDaddiAss@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I dont understand the problem either. They thought he'd be fine, even put him out there for a few reps, turns out he wasn't as fine as he thought and so ended up with limited snaps. Seems pretty reasonable. Athletes overestimate or oversell their ability to play through injury/illness all the time and gametime adjustments when the reality sets in are nothing that unusual.

[–] clockwork5ive@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Who fucking cares if gamblers lose money.

This is disgusting.

[–] Juganator@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

If you can’t handle losing a little bit of money on ONE game, you shouldn’t be betting. Where are y’all pulling these bogus stats that say most NFL viewership is bettors and fantasy football players? You can’t even sports bet in the state of Georgia. I think most Falcons fans aren’t bettors lol.

I don’t think bettors realize how fucking annoying you are to those that don’t bet. You sound like fiends.

[–] NutterTV@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Lmfao what a baby. Dude I’m for sure against DraftKings being implemented everywhere. But to be like “oh I guess I should just tell the other teams head coach what our game plan is since that’s where we’re heading anyways!”

How fuckin silly. Bijan is out on the field, running routes and blocking and then randomly becomes too sick? Then you give him one random carry at the end of the game? Not saying you have to use every single player listed your roster, but you draft him 8 overall and then just decide not to use him when he’s been playing fine? It has nothing to do with the “hot hand” like he says. This dude got emotional that people called him out for not notifying anyone of his illness before the game, then played like 2 or 3 quarters, is out on the field running and blocking but is “too sick” to be given the ball? If he’s sick, he’s sick. But don’t try and make everyone seem like morons for not agreeing to your logic of “oh he’s sick today and isn’t part of our game plan” while actively having him running routes and then giving him a carry anyways at the end of the game. It makes no sense. Don’t be angry your excuse just fuckin sucked

[–] DefiantHat7680@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah this killed my fantasy week. Would have been nice to know prior to the game starting 👍🏼

[–] AdhesivenessFun2060@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

He didn't want to tell anyone because he didn't want the other team to know, so he thought that if he gave him 1 carry that he could work around the reporting rule. Now he wants to play innocent. He's going to cost his team a pick.

[–] Grizzly352@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Can’t this cross into HIPAA laws if Bijan had something he didn’t want shared with the public?

[–] glacier_19@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Maybe the NFL shouldn’t have gotten in bed with sports books. I don’t think this will be the only time something sketchy happens. We know that players have been betting. You’re telling me that referees aren’t? Yeah, I’m out on sports betting.

[–] OutboardTips@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Nfl removes probable designation gets mad when players aren’t marked questionable when 100% probable.

[–] RaveMeSilly@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago
[–] No-Lake-9920@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Well did he win????? Okay then

[–] Enkinan@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

This is one of the dumbest fucking things Ive ever seen.

[–] Enkinan@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Can someone tell me why this same argument cant be made for Watson?

[–] jeff8073x@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

For all we know the info leaked and some people were able to take advantage of it.

That's why Arthur.

If he's fired it won't hurt him. Just has to leach off billionaire bro then.

[–] MyDogIsACoolCat@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Don't fuck with the NFL and gambling.

[–] matrixislife@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

When the reasons to detail exactly what a medical issue is turns out to be gambling, gambling and gambling, I feel slightly less concern about this as an NFL problem.

[–] Lochbriar@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

This article is some of the most entitled bullshit I've ever read, and I'm someone who fucking loves gambling and fantasy. Arthur Smith shouldn't care about gamblers or fantasy players. In fact, its not healthy to the sport and its integrity if head coaches even give a second thought to those type of things. If Arthur Smith exercised empathy for the gamblers and did literally anything with them in mind, he's technically making a decision based on gambling, and that would be a BAD THING.

If you're a fantasy player who can't stand when the real world actors don't do things for your benefit, just draft Best Ball before the season so you don't have to make these types of decisions.

[–] VindictiveRakk@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

how much longer are people gonna whine about this lmao
