I honestly think it’s Liverpool comfortably.

Milan has a bigger stadium, better known legends, play in an affluent city, and has great history and traditions.

Liverpool is worth billions more , has more fans, and is better on the pitch. They also have the history and traditions.

It's a tough question to answer.

The bigger question is why anyone thinks this is important?

I think I probably depends how old you are, for the modern era I would say Liverpool

Alonso, VVD and Salah? If you count them, you need to mention a lot more Milan's players like Sedorf, Cafu, Baresi, Inzaghi, Shevchenko, Nesta... I probably missed quite a few.

Milan have more legends and more iconic players but Liverpool are the bigger club. Both similarly decorated but Liverpool have a far bigger fan base. Milan's history is just factually cooler tho. Idc who you are

Milan is more than football (fashion design, business, fast cars, facism/mussoini etc).. While Liverpool is purely football (if you look away from 4 guys who made a band in the 50s/60s). That makes Liverpool FC a bigger name in Liverpool than AC Milan would be in Milan. Liverpool is famous because of its football club, while Milan is not.

To some degree you can say that Liverpool are one of those town/cities that is famous because of its football.. Milan would have had a name anyways. Visiting Anfield is one of Liverpools (the city's) main-attraction, while san siro is not a main attraction of Milano..That's the difference. Football is everything in Liverpool, while in Milano it's just one of several thing.. So howcome Milan be a bigger club, when they're not even the most important thing in the city.

Milan are famous for their style of play back in the glorious periods with the Flying Dutch, Arrigo Sacchi, Fabio Capello, Carlo Ancelotti...etc. In terms of football, it did make difference with Liverpool whose football identity is an unknown. Personally, I've never heard of Liverpool style of play.

Regarding other stuffs, it's difficult to compare Milan vs Liverpool since they're both ones of the biggest clubs in the world

Milan is slightly bigger since it has more Champions League wins than Liverpool, thus being more traditional and having more continental presence. You can say that Liverpool had more recent success, but recent success does not make a club big (Looking at you, Blue Manchester).

The fact that Serie A is not as big as the Premiership (this now, because the Serie A was huge in the 90's) should not be something to consider, it's not Milan's choice to be on that league or not.

The big historic 7 European Supergiants are Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus and AC Milan.

Real Madrid are probably top of that list but there's arguments about the order of the other 6.

I'm not a Liverpool fan or anything but I'd put them alongside Real Madrid, Man U and Barca as the most popular team in the world from a legacy standpoint. Milan for sure up there but not to the same level

Liverpool would most likely have another European Cup or two if not for Heysel. They single moment set english football back massively till 1999.

Milan is. Also calling VVD a club legend already its pretty funny tbh, also Suarez..like he barely played there and won like nothing..like they werent even in the top 3 in the PL standings. Sure he had goals but hes a Barca legend not a Liverpool one imo.

Anyone under the age of 20 would say Liverpool. Anyone in-between 20-40 would say Milan. Anyone above the age of 40 would probably say either Liverpool or Milan depending on how much they valued each legendary player/teams of back in the days. It's a tie.

Numbers wise, I'd say Liverpool is the bigger club, but Milan has made it's mark in football history more. The reason Liverpool has more fans is because it's a big Premier League club, both with the Premier League being the biggest and because of the influence of English people in the world.

I think Liverpool’s more famous and has more fans. A lot of that’s because the Prem is much bigger world wide than Serie A. For example, Liverpool’s got 3x more followers on Instagram.
