When the last "n" went from pen to paper

[–] whistlepig4life@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Could?

Try it already is.

[–] DethFeRok@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Now, now sounds pretty good.

[–] Lanky_Promotion8976@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yep. It was stupid to pay a guy who hasn’t played in 2 years a 250 mil guaranteed contract.

It was a disaster the moment it happened

[–] Caer-Rythyr@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It was a Disaster when it happened. Both financially and 'Fuck that ENTIRE organization right to the ROOTS'ly.

Eh more like when it was made

[–] Foxstarry@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s when the trade was even mentioned in whatever smoke filled back room it spawned in.

Yes. Indubitably.

Aka it was a disaster the moment they made it... but only because they then doubled down and gave him that utterly ridiculous contract.

I'd say 'what a shame', but I'm not all that for Browns, so thanks Browns for trading for him from the Texans!

/Love me some CJ Stroud right about now.

When the Wilson trade isn’t a bigger disaster.

[–] woodmanalejandro@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

umm immediately after it was completed?

[–] AdhesivenessFun2060@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It's already been deemed a disaster.Luckily there at least competitive

[–] calivend@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] megasxl264@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The Browns are a disaster so his signing was just the norm

[–] cheeseburgerpillow@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

About 4-5 months ago

[–] ImNotTheBossOfYou@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I mean we're way past that point.

[–] 44035@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We're 4-2. Let's just enjoy the season for a bit.

[–] NotHannibalBurress@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He had to come back and be a top 5 QB for it to be worthwhile. He has since been a bottom 10 QB on the rare occasions where he’s actually played.

It was pretty clear it would be a bad trade from the moment it happened, and it has been proven since the start of this year basically.

[–] Nickyq52@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Let’s not forget - Saints, Panthers, Falcons also had trade proposals for Watson

The only thing that would make it not a disaster is getting to a couple SBs but until then...

[–] iggyfenton@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

When Watson was accused of sexually assaulting 23 people.

[–] awolflikeme@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

This subs total fixation with the situation is boring as fuck. Theres so much more interesting things going on in the league but there's 4 posts about this at the top of the sub every damn day.

Now. Also the day of the trade.

Also now. Whatever day you read this is a day too late.

[–] TheOvercookedFlyer@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It amazes me how no one in Cleveland tried to stop it. I still can't wrap my head around it.

[–] btccoachcody@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’m sorry, but I’m one of the few that still don’t see it as a bad trade. He has what? 3 more guaranteed years? If he makes a deep playoff run in that last year, it would be worth it- no?

[–] Trumpisaderelict@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] Elegant_Spot_3486@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Wasn’t it dubbed that as soon as it was announced? And nothing he’s done since then has changed that narrative.

[–] LingonberryRum@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

the minute it happened?

[–] Evernight2025@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

When they came up with the idea of trading for him knowing what he did

[–] KKamm_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Has it not been being considered one for months now?

[–] volunbeers@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

When it happened.

[–] Dfusion1983@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

When everyone signed the contract

[–] Winterclaw42@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

When the dolphins who were anti-tua at that point backed out of trading for watson at the last minute, the Browns should have rethought things. See, the thing about rushing to make a mistake as a franchise isn't just that you hurt yourself, it's that you keep another franchise from making that mistake. By not dumping Tua for watson, miami let the browns be the guys who made that mistake.

ATM Watson is the 26th rated QB by rating. He's 24th by qbr if you like it. Either way, this super expensive guy with a fully guaranteed contract who also cost you picks is stuck in the bottom quarter of QBs and needs to be dumped. But the browns can't dump him.

The biggest failure is if the Browns had an average QB, their defense would let them make a superbowl run. Baker Mayfield today, who the browns cut lose, would probably good enough with their defense to make a superbowl run. Crazy how that worked out.

At this point they've got a good chance of making the playoffs, but I don't think they'd last long. So considering how he's playing, it's already a disaster because the defense is ready now and he isn't.

Day 1 easily

[–] monkeybiziu@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
  1. Agreeing to a fully guaranteed, market-setting contract for a guy that hadn't played in two years.

  2. Moving forward with the contract after he was credibly accused of multiple instances of sexual assault.

  3. When he started and has continued to play like absolute dogwater.

Really, any of those would have been it, but combined they've set a standard for ineptitude that has exceeded even previous Browns-related expecations.

[–] Bobby_Newpooort@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (4 children)

It’s been a disaster from the word go. The league’s ultimate underdog became instantly hated and the sex offender hasn’t been any good.

Not to mention the $230 million guaranteed

[–] jimjoy666@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

At the point r/nfl stops obsessing over it

Is right when the trade happened an option?

[–] Festermooth@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I don't remember a single positive take on that trade from anyone other than the team's own press conferences. Not only did everyone from reddit to media pundits to your uncle think it was idiotic at the time, it somehow looks even worse in retrospect.

[–] StefonDiggsHS@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It was from day 1

[–] Art-RJS@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

End of next season
