I just ordered the Darter Pro Gen 9, with the i7 and 3-year warranty support. I read countless reviews, all the bad and all the good, and I looked at several different laptop brands and the different ultraportables that System76 offers. I decided on the Darter Pro; it ticks all of the boxes I would want in a laptop.

The extended warranty is expensive, but it is worth it to me. Every computer I have bought, I have always bought an extended warranty, and I have had to use it in some capacity. I'm going to be using it as my daily driver; this will include progamming and cybersecurity-related stuff that I work on. I'm super excited to join the System76 club!

Good choice, I have the Gen 8 which is great.

Keep us updated!

I'm still having a hard time to decide between Darter Pro and Thinkpad T16 gen 2. Thinkpad has a better battery life , definitely way better quality hardware and on top of that, with 3 year warranty comes cheaper. On the other hand, we get to support a great company, the laptop is more upgradable and repairable and has additional hard drive slot.

I looked at the Thinkpad series as well. Thinkpad sells a Ubuntu X1 carbon. It was really hard not to go with that laptop. But ultimately, I wanted coreboot support and System76 support.

welcome Darter pro 6 user for past 4 years only complaint i have is trackpad is irritable and gets in way of typing even with setting to disable when typing turned on .With regards to battery i am not keen on batter life when i purchased as my use is a desk laptop not for on the go or commute. It performs like well oiled machine till now no complaints.

Three weeks ago I purchased the Darter pro 9. The mouse jumping around while I am typing is driving me crazy. I would describe it as a major problem. I assume and hope that I need to adjust some of the trackpad or mouse timing settings, but have no idea what to adjust them to. I have set the "disable when typing" setting that you mentioned both ways and have not noticed any difference.

Another option is fn+f1 key disable trackpad completely and switch on when needed is the approach I follow
