Deserved. If he is kept healthy I'm sure next year the Balon d'Or should be his.

[–] achentuate@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Champions league will dictate the narrative as it always does. Madrid will have to win it again and have Bellingham as their best player. This season is actually his best chance as they might get Mbappe next year who will surely outperform him in the goals department.

[–] bishaarcc@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well, he'll probably also winvthe Ballon D'or if he continues scoring like that.

Not over the GOAT Guirassy

[–] magic-water@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (6 children)

Pedri>Bellingham is gonna be the new Dembele>Mbappe

[–] javierich0@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Even more hilarious, they say Gabi>Bellingham. At least Pedri has the football to back it up.

Not saying Gavi> Bellingham, but did you even watch the match yesterday lmfao

Are you like genuinely stupid? Comparing a pure midfielder with a false 9/10 role on the basis of goals scored?🤡

People are so desperate for the next Messi vs. Ronaldo

These need to get a grip football is still a team sport

[–] TimTkt@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Barca flairs have a special way to overhype their players, they did the same with Fati and a lot of youngers before

[–] ancara_messi@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

This subreddit is garbage

[–] SimplySatisfyin@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

That is incredibly disrespectful to Pedri. I mean they don’t even have the same playstyle at all.

[–] ObiWanKenobiNil@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

this is less surprising than Messi winning the balon dor

[–] syed_abubaker15@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

There's a whole campaign against Messi's balon dor by a certain fanbase

[–] Lolejimmy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Or just people who find it unfair to Haaland? He's only getting it because it's him lol, any other player in his place (except ronaldo maybe) with the same stats and he 100% doesn't get it over haaland

[–] syed_abubaker15@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Modric won in 2018 for coming second in WC over Ronaldo. Messi not only won the world cup, he won the cup as the best player of the tournament. Haaland was absent in the big games of the man city UCL win but Messi was motm of every game outside the group stage.

People suddenly started criticizing world cup like crazy since Messi won it as if it isn't the most prestigious award for any nation and the most sought after by players. To win the award as the best player and complete the year with highest g+a is always enough for a balloon d'Or

[–] F___TheZero@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

You're right but some people will never admit it. No point arguing with them.

Last year they discounted Messi for not having a world cup, this year there will be something else, and in 40 years they will argue Ronaldo's enduring Instagram popularity had a bigger impact on the sport etc. etc.

[–] I_Like_F0oD@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I agree its a popularity contest but both Ronaldo in 2013 and Messi in 2019 absolutely deserved the awards those years.

[–] FrostNeverUnholy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

🔎🔎looking for all the r/soccer geniuses who complained endlessly about how overrated this kid was on every highlight of his that got posted. where did they go???

[–] ScottiApso@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Anyone older than 16 should be really embarrassed to make a comment like this.

depends if it's for the year 2023 or the season 2022/23. If it's the former I would agree. If it's the latter I would disagree. Even Bellingham winning shouldn't be uncontroversial for the 2022/23 season even if it isn't undeserved

[–] SirNukeSquad@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Between World Cup and October according to this website.

[–] faintu@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Obviously wished our boy Musiala could/would win it, but there is no doubt Bellingham 100% deserved this one. Congratulations!

[–] superamoeba@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Was rooting for Musiala. But clearly, this season dominates the previous one in voting. Congratulations to the fans and media, I guess.

[–] SavingsLeg@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

??? Hahaha what

Bellingham was also at least on par with musiala last season

[–] NachoMartin1985@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah because Bellingham was shit last season lol

[–] SmileySadFace@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Has anyone won the golden boy one year and the Balon D'or immediately the year after? Because my boy seems like he could do it at this pace

[–] iNfAMOUS70702@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I can understand Messi winning the Balon D'or but this one was an obvious no brainer

[–] CurlyDarkrai@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Surprising they didn't give this one to Messi too

[–] 1917211198@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

he would have deserved it too even if he was 15 years too old

As expected really, he's a ballon d'or contendor. His future's bright but I hope he doesn't burn out early.

[–] movealongabai@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Had a better year than Messi

[–] christorino@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Remember the shit everyone gave him when Birmingham retired his number after he left. We all did.

[–] samanthaxboateng@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I prefer watching Musiala.

I think he is a more skilful player than Bellingham.

[–] Joe1237@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Because it was based off last season Musiala deserved it. But let’s be honest all these football awards are just for who’s the most popular. And we know Bayern gets no hype of recognition. This shouldn’t surprise anyone lol.
