As you read in the title. How does one get past a rudiger-type defender in any other way than passing. Some one who is good at 1v1, strong, fast AND also smart. If you try to dribble, you're probably gonna get the ball stolen from you, if you try to run past, then they'll catch up.

Carvajal is so good this season it’s insane

Felix is just that good

I wish Chelsea went in for buying Felix. Felt like he would have really stepped up in a more normal season.

It’s not too late……for £300 mil. Special Chelsea tax

[–] Heathen_Inferos@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He would probably be more than that for United. But with that said, it’s more because we’re infamous for ludicrous transfer decisions, e.g., Paul Pogba.

Rudiger isn’t that good in 1v1 defending but he’s a very good marker and reader of the game. He’ll probably be onto the attacker even before the ball reaches him which makes him very effective against strikers like Haaland, Osimhen, Lewandowski but he would probably struggle against players who run with the ball and try for 1v1

[–] MKtheMaestro@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Force him into a blunder. Plenty of attackers have gotten the best out of Rudiger.

[–] BlueLabel19@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He's very beatable in all those regards

[–] Wawawanow@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If you can't beat him, pass. No shame in that it's just good decision making.

[–] irondaniel92@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Hes not unstoppable. There's a lot of times where he does some sloppy defending.

[–] Aromatic-Reach-7674@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Give him the ball, and he will pass it to you from a bad position

[–] youraveragefailure12@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Pass around him. Shoot before he closes you down. Just like with any other player in the world. Grate question mate. Real doozy that one

[–] TheGoodNoBad@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Rudiger is good but we’ve seen plenty of times he was beaten 1v1. So your implication that you can’t dribble or pace past him is kind of… answered through empirical examples

Be joao felix

[–] omkar_T7@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You try to get him out of position by provoking him, being physical and making runs. He’s not gonna keep up with you 1:1. Watch how Ronaldo makes his runs and confuse the defenders
