I know people self employed in construction whom would sleep at the job site because they worked so hard. They are living very very comfortably now.

What are your rags to riches stories of hard work?

Enough to not remember, or record them. That’s too much, by the way. It did help build ability in some areas.

7 days, day and night, on call 24 7.

Obviously not every hour of the day but MOST of the day.

I worked 7am to 8pm or more M-F in my “career” from 2006 -2015

I now work 8:30 to 8pm or more M-Th in my own company. 2015-current

I usually call it a day by 3pm on Friday.

I have always always, always taken Saturday 100% off for my family unless there is so e unique emergency.

I typically work at least 4 hours on Sunday.

In both of companies I co-founded we had 30 hour work week. Monday to Friday 6 hours, flexible.

It did took me couple of weeks of working 12 hours a day to start first one because I had been working full time plus building the product in spare time.

I did this for a few years until I learned that more than 8h a day is actually counterproductive. The vast majority of these 'rise and grind' bros are just wasting time in front of a computer doing stupid bullshit.

Agreed. Sometimes I'm on a roll and at the end of the day I see this big new task in front of me that would require 2-3 days of intense work. Then I think to myself why not start now? But often if I just go to bed and start the next morning with a fresh mind I can find a new way to deal with the problem in 2hrs of work.

10-12 hrs per day 6 days per week is your best chance at success without relying on luck. In the first year or 2.

Yup, I’m on my first week of self employment and this Is the reality

[–] clever-fool@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I do and have done my absolute best to stick to an avg 40 hr week + 1-4hrs on Saturdays only to do work I really enjoy. It causes slower growth but I intend to build my busiess for the rest of my life - it's a marathon not a race.

I work until I feel in my brain that I hit the level of diminishing returns.

That means I need a break. Sometimes the break extends until the next day.

[–] JudgeCheezels@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

10 hours.

Then I realized, less is more. It's just about doing things efficiently and doing what matters most.

Now I'm just doing 4-5 hours a day.

[–] kevinghiga@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

6 hours a day is more than enough for me. Even 4 hours a day is enough for me to be happy.
