So we are giving it to Messi because he was on the team that won the WC and because he's HISTORICALLY the best player ever... not because he was actually the best player this last year? Yeah that makes total sense. This trophy lost its meaning a long time ago.

That sounds a lot like taking his entire career into account when this is an annual award. As a Man Utd fan it pains me to say it, but it’s Haaland who should win.
