There's some words on the street that big collectors went out for dinner with him and he kind of misbehaved, and some of these big collectors decided to sell all of their F.P.Journe .

So what's the story?

I don’t think it’s anyone’s place to comment on - or even muse about what a group of men get up to at a private dinner party.

That’s their business. Now, don’t misunderstand me. There are times when I’ve conducted myself with a questionable level of propriety. That was in my youthful days though.

I’m heterosexual, but when a group of just men get together (especially in the presence of alcohol) I’ve noticed that the dawn piper starts to play at noon, if you understand my meaning. I’m not high society. I’m a man’s man, meat and potatoes. I live in the real world.

If after several glasses of wine and dessert, if were winding down with coffee and scotch…would I mind if another guest made comments about my body? I don’t think so. Even if I was sober, I’m secure and confident. Another man (drunk or no) making a harmless pass at me isn’t threatening, it’s playful. Besides, I don’t judge other men. I’m not here to make anyone feel less than about their lifestyle.

Whatever you want to do? That’s fine with me. I’ve been in many situations that, despite the fact I’m not “that way” I found them very mysterious and arousing. Perhaps, JP Journe (he is European after all) found himself in a compromising position at this dinner party with men that are nervous and new school?

I’m old school. I don’t lecture other men. If FP Journe were to sit next to me on a couch, away from the other guests and attempted to explore his desires for me, I wouldn’t rebuff him. He’s old and harmless. He’s French, so I’m assuming he’s uncircumcised. The French are very good kissers and - in my experience - attentive lovers. I am a giving lover as well.

I don’t know any of this for sure, it’s all just casual musings. We’re all friends here and we’re just talking. It’s just light banter, theory crafting if you will. There’s no real intent behind it. I just like sharing my thoughts with all of you.

These days? I live the quiet life with the lovely woman I’ve been married to for 13 years. I don’t normally stir my coffee with a soup spoon, if you understand my meaning. The opportunities to discuss these aspects of life with someone other than my wife rarely come up, so I have to make the most of it when I can.

I’m old fashioned, so I don’t normally pose these topics to my social group.

I’m conversational.

Heard from an industry insider that he's an absolute twat, so it doesn't surprise me.

Throwaway because I'm a fairly well-known figure who works in the industry.

First of all, I've never talked to Nico so I don't know for sure what he's referring to. Like most other people who have been in the industry for a while, though, I'm acquainted with Journe socially and know many people who currently work or have worked for the brand - watchmaking is a small world. That said, I doubt this was a single event in particular or that it was a recent thing. Stories like this about Journe have been circulating for many years - I heard a variation of this story years ago from people who have worked for the brand, and it wasn't on only one occasion. Journe can be charming when he wants to and abrasive when he doesn't, and he can be more abrasive than most. There are also many stories of him out there behaving inappropriately with women.

Is he or the brand due for a reckoning like Nico seems to imply? Honestly, I doubt it - these stories aren't anything new and are well-known to most people who have more than a surface-level interest in the brand, yet he still has more than enough devotees to sell out the brand's annual production several times over.

I’m asking around. That these guys haven’t been cancelled for sexual abuse yet is a miracle.

[–] Ty--Guy@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Don't cancel me bro.

Who cares, I’m so tired of people playing pedantic moralists on their high horse. Van Gogh was insane, Michelangelo was gay, Sid Vicious was schizophrenic, the list goes on and on. Creativity and madness spring from the same seed. I hope they dump their watches because they never bought them for the right reasons then. Hope to get a good discount.

I don't know, reddit won't let me see the 317 people who upvoted or the 212 people who shared so I can't name exactly who cares.

There is only group of people that, if you criticize them, or say anything negative about them, you career is over.. So I guess what he said in that dinner knowing what's happening of civilian atrocities in that hot area..follow my eyes.. It's over for him and his brand if he doesn't resign. They don't forget and they don't forgive..
