Maradona was just that much of an icon to people that he will forever be held as huh.
Also I hate comparing eras, as players are more professional nowadays and the game is played much differently than before. Pitches are also much better than in the past, so it’s easier to do control, pass and shoot.
Messi is better than he thinks he is. Maradona was not as good as he thought he was.
