I have a pair of dt770s and a set of speakers (I forget the brand / model) and there's a huge difference between audio quality.

Obviously headphones aren't going to have the same feel as speakers, but is there some kind of piece of hardware or something I can use to get better sound out of them? I currently have my headphones plugged directly into my motherboard.

You could get a DAC with built in headphone amplifier. You normally connect it to the computer thru USB and this will give you improved sound quality.

No--not enough so that it would make your headphones sound like speakers.

what do you mean by better sound? Do you want your headphone to sound more open like your speakers? If so that is not really sound quality difference rather judt general sound stage difference between headphone and speakers. If your headphones are too quiet, you need an amp, if your motherboard don't have a good dac you could get one to. Or as other suggested in the comment you could eq your cans wiht something like the Apollo equalizer.

By better sound I meant heavier bass, I should've been more specific. Thanks

step one: stop using the dt770
