Should’ve just whistled the blatant travel so there’d be no discussion regarding foul. Watching NBA in 2023 hurts my eyes.

Why did he ricochet like that by the air
They probably spent the whole time discussing if they were allowed to simply rule that a non-call and give the Lakers the ball as there was no actual contact on this play. I'm guessing there's something in the rulebook preventing them from overturning this without a coach's challenge, but they were probably looking at it on the replay like "whoops, we screwed this one up."
One of the most absurdly funny situations I've ever witnessed.
We can't have this kind of filthy play in our fine sport. Suspend his ass!
I liked the FIBA reviews where you could hear the refs mic'd up discussing the play and see what angles they were looking at. Reviews were still annoying interruptions but at least there you got to hear the decision making process.
How on earth would they be able to fix games if we could hear them talking about everything
If they're fixing games I can guarantee they aren't using the review process to do it... It's by far the time that their judgement is under the most scrutiny. It's infinitely easier to just shift the gray area around to favor a team instead of trying to make the wrong call after every fan gets to watch a slow mo replay 10 times in a row.

Why isn't there just a 4th umpire for each game a video ref, who makes the decision himself and tells the on court what to call

And some dude in a correctly lit booth is going to have a much better time deciding then someone with all the glare on court Aswell as the second it's called there would be no waiting for them to move the screen so the refs can see and put on headphones
I can understand the confusion, but the bad job is just the commentators. Right when he starts jumping Russell almost trips him with his foot. He does make contact and Anthony’s feet get tangled up mid air, the foul call isn’t questionable. It is in full speed, coming from behind and potentially very dangerous, it’s also unintentional and minimal contact. So they let Russel get away with it, but you certainly can call this either way.
Commenting to promote. I totally missed the foot contact the first few watches. As soon as I saw it, it made 100% sense that this needs review. Completely unintentional, but led to a quite dangerous situation.
