Personally, I think the chances are high. The return that Morey got for Harden is not enough to remain a championship contender. They could get another player with the draft picks, but it won’t be a player that gives the Sixers a chance to compete for a championship. Zach Lavine, Brandon Ingram, Fred Vanvleet, etc. are not enough.

I think Embiid realizes that the Sixers won’t have enough and he will formally send a trade request in the next few days. As an aging MVP, Embiid isn’t going to want to wait around for the Sixers to reload over the next couple years. He will want to go to a contender that gives him an immediate chance to win.

Meanwhile, Maxey will be the exciting tank commander for a few years while the Sixers reload. Hopefully, the Process 2 works this time for Philly.

As for Morey, his time in NBA front offices is likely coming to an end after the lackluster return he got for Harden. The Rockets’ James Harden trade made him a top league executive and this James Harden trade will likely end his time at the top. Harden got what he wanted; Morey’s luster is gone. After he is forced to trade Embiid, Morey is going to be torn apart for the way he managed the Sixers the last few years.

Nah Embiid loves Philly. They've also been decent without Harden this year and have cap space next year now.

If Nurse keeps up the strong start, I see him staying. I don’t think Embiid wants to leave Philly. He owns that town.

It won’t happen

As for Morey, his time in NBA front offices is likely coming to an end after the lackluster return he got for Harden.

This is an expiring contract and a player who wants another max contract, which 0 teams wanted to give him.

I think the fact that Morey got 2 firsts, 2 seconds and a pick swap kind of a miracle

Clearly they don't intend on holding that draft capital for very long. Just need a suitor to emerge

No way he doesn’t play out this season at the least. If they don’t make it out of the second round, we will see

Harden lost over $100M because Morey lied to him, and all NBA players saw that happen in real time. Morey is cooked, cursed and no team with him as GM will ever sniff an NBA title. Fire him now.

Embiid will likely ride this out with the Sixers for this season, and they will be a decently good team, although another 1st or 2nd round playoff exit. Embiid won his precious MVP last season, so he's probably happy to coast through this season, lose again early in the playoffs and then re-access in the off-season after seeing what "magic" Morey can pull off with $80M in capspace...

Hate to say it, but Embiid definitely has the "me-first loser" stench on him from all his whining about the MVP and his extremely poor play in the playoffs as well as the fact that he's never made it out of the 2nd round (and won't again this year).

Will 2025 finally be the redemption year for Embiid?

How much of the $125M that Morey's lies cost Harden will Harden recoup on his next contract with Clippers?

These are the vital questions that only the future can answer...

Nah, he strikes me as the kind of guy who prefers comfortable situations, and there’s nothing more comfortable right now than being at the Sixers where no one will blame him for the team’s shortcomings in the playoffs. Nothing wrong with that though, I actually would prefer if he took it upon himself to almost single-handedly take this Sixers team to the Finals.

He also seems to like the city and the franchise.. and realistically speaking, I can’t think of a contender or potential contender with the pieces to get him and that Joel would like to join. I just don’t see him swapping Philly for OKC, who are IMO the only team that can pay Morey’s potential asking price.. and they have Chet, so makes little sense for them too..

Aren’t Batum, RoCo and Morris all pretty washed? KJ Martin is a nice pickup, but idk if he is a plus player. I suppose that the Sixers have a ton of assets to trade for something better. No way they sit idly by.

Sixers are a great team without Harden. Delulu

[–] DogAssss69@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Would you rather have Harden over FVV right now?

I think sometimes people think of trades like just changing your team in 2K or at the local park, but in reality, there are a lot of non-basketball reasons to wanna stay put. Moving to another part of the country, having to resettle your family, maybe move away from any local friends that you have, can be a really stressful thing. I’d guess that’s why very often trade requests happen in the off-season. Embiid may ask for a trade, but it’s often not as simple as “this team isn’t good enough”
