I don't understand why the refs are making it a point of emphasis to call these Techs? Most of the times it's just a playing making sure the landing zone is clear and allowing their momentum to stop. It's seems unnecessary and more dangerous for the dunker.

It’s a silly rule that’s like something out of “no dunks allowed” pre-merger nba rules.

Anyone remember that Nuggets game last season that had like a 45 min or something break in the middle of the game because one of the players made the rim crooked after hanging on it? Things like that are likely the primary reason why they give these out.

That game did produce some of the most entertaining killing time commentary by the Nuggets broadcasters though lol
