Well shit. The landscaping company we signed up for this year is a MAGAt apparently. I'll be shopping for a different company now.

[–] Treetrimmer@sh.itjust.works 7 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

I'm gonna guess that lots of landscapers are maga.

Nah, that's a conference venue. You're thinking of the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center & Fairgrounds in Oaks, Pennsylvania.

I’m thinking that it will be fun to call this out on Yelp and Google reviews pages in blue areas.

Why is HitlerPig Jr in the photo? Is he promoting his MAGA cocaine dealer?

[–] EpeeGnome@lemm.ee 4 points 21 hours ago

A plausible guess, but the article says he's on the website's board of directors.

As a consumer, PublicSquare’s website is easy to use. You just enter your ZIP code

Where? In the search box I just get a few products that happen to have my zip code in their description (not as a zip, but as a product number or something). Other comments here mention a map, but I'm not seeing that.

Edit: Found it. It's really buried.

[–] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 5 points 20 hours ago

They changed it (uncertain when) after a lot of publicity.

Am I using this app correctly? I’m confused

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 213 points 1 day ago (10 children)

lol. This site is comedy.

A lot of MAGAs registered in my county. A county Trump only got 21% in.

Why the fuck would you slap a MAGA sign on your business when 80% of your potential customers hate that shit?

[–] HuntressHimbo@lemm.ee 116 points 1 day ago (3 children)

When you've convinced yourself that your parties membership is like twice the size it actually is you make great decisions

[–] teawrecks@sopuli.xyz 32 points 1 day ago

Hey, putting their money where their mouth is, I don't have a problem with that.

[–] Schadrach@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

They got a majority of votes. Unless you live in a deep blue area it's likely to get you more customers than it costs, at least for now. Most customers won't care either way, they're at your business to buy your goods/services, not as a political statement.

Those signs will go down fast except for the very political and deep red areas once we're in a post-Trump world.

It's a cult

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 26 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Gotta say, I love the idea of a private company being called 'PublicSquare'... and the irony of this utterly whooshing over the heads of literally everyone involved.

[–] Treetrimmer@sh.itjust.works 8 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

They seem like the kind of people that would hate an actual public square

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

They would all arrive at the market and insist on being able to open carry slung AR15s, and then be utterly baffled by the concept of a weapons check.

Like... even in 'the West' (yeehaw cowboys West) it was pretty common to have a weapons check at bars... because they quickly learned that if you don't do that, well, patrons don't enjoy the risk of getting their balls blown off while trying to throwback a shot of whiskey, because two other idiots nearby got into a fight.

Literally the fabled Tombstone, AZ, did this, as a city wide ordinance.

Gun control is older than almost half the states in the union.

Any way we could keep a historical record of these businesses? I can foresee them doing a full cleansing of their internet presence as they lose business.

[–] InverseParallax@lemmy.world 32 points 1 day ago

I'm worried they'll pull another 2008, where everyone decided they hadn't voted for W in 2004 so nothing was their fault, they'd been 'liberteranians' all along.

We need to remember who supported him, this matters.

[–] Natanael@infosec.pub 50 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Archive.org

There's additional mirrors, but that's the big one

[–] Scrollone@feddit.it 30 points 1 day ago

And that's why the US government cut all public funds to Archive.org.

Archive.org retains the website. I want to track the actual data. I haven't had a moment to inspect the website to see how the data is being pulled.

I recently bought some stuff online from Penzeys, specifically because of the anti-maga stuff.

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

My mom orders stuff from them all the time. We don't even use the spices fast enough but she gets more, usually for her friends too though.

[–] Dejathehairwizard@midwest.social 5 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Their Fox point seasoning is the shit. Veggies, eggs, garlic toast, and it makes an excellent dupe of noodles and company buttered noodles.

[–] plzExplainNdetail@slrpnk.net 3 points 20 hours ago

Love Penzeys Spices! The 'Justice' seasoning is also really tasty in savoury dishes. Next order I will have to try out the 'Fox Point' as it sounds great. For sweet stuff, their 'Pie Spice' is wonderful (goes well with anything sweet that has cinnamon in it)!

[–] phoenixarise@lemmy.world 40 points 1 day ago

Ooh good to know, I don’t want to give my hard-earned money to MAGAt nonsense.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 86 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I just checked to see who was listed in my area, I sure would like to boycott them but I'd never heard of any of them before so I guess I already was.

Anybody got an actual list? I can't be asses to scroll through product listings and that site is terribly designed.

[–] Sabata11792@ani.social 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

There's a map by zip code, seems like it's an per business opt in setup.

I'm surprised by how many of the local shitholes figured out the internet in my town. Lot of construction, photography, and those shitty businesses that sell scam ass herbal supplements.

[–] nulluser@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Where is this map? I'm not finding anything like that on the site.

Edit. Found it. It's really buried.

[–] arrow74@lemm.ee 15 points 1 day ago (8 children)

I have flirted with the idea of pulling a list all registered business in my area and cross checking political donations from them/their owners.

It's a lot of data to crunch though

So...Instead of becoming a BETTER business, they decided to HIDE the evil business?

This could use some governmental oversight. Oops, wrong government. NEVERMIND.
