They’ve been sold this smart, efficient, game-managing quarterback and they’re not getting it.

They should sue whoever sold them damaged goods! Really though as frustrated as they are with Mac the language used in the article reeks of lack of accountability from the front office staff. Could just be poor journalism, idk.

Patriots org decision making has 'infuriated' players inside the patriots team

[–] ComfortableMaster625@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (14 children)

He's been bad, but part of this is probably people inside the Patriots organization unable to accept that the average quarterback is not Tom Brady and can't fix everything himself. Might be time to reexamine other aspects of the organization as well.

"They've been sold this smart, efficient, game-managing quarterback and they're not getting it."

That's on the organization...

[–] THATS-A-LOTTA-NUTS@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Man can you imagine what a luxury it would be to have Tom Brady on your team running the offense for 15+ years? Like what did the offensive coaches even do?

Well I hope so lol

[–] Oatmeal-Outcast@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He's almost the Anti-Brady in the sense that he's so unlucky in crunch time. The first game of the season this year the offense comes out with Bill O'Brien's new offense and march down the field on their first drive until a receiver tips a pass that gets intercepted. The game ends with Mac leading a game winning drive only to have his receiver not get both feet in bounds on fourth down.

The next game ends with a desperation comeback drive in which Hunter Henry laterals to a lineman who seemingly picked up a first down but it was reversed after review. I'm pretty sure JuJu tipped a crucial pass late in the game last week that led to another huge interception.

And of course last year he gets memed mercilessly because Jakobi Meyers thought it was a good idea to lateral across the field and put Mac 1 on 1 with Chandler Jones barreling down on him as time expired. Mac obviously isn't going to be Mahomes, but with a few exceptions, he's doing what he needs to do to put his team in position to win.

This article talks about mac being anti brad and anti clutch. Seems the writer blamed the Washington interception on Mac and not jujui wonder if Boston writers shoot up heroin and then watch the games. I think it’s time to move on from Mac but throwing every blame on him is lol.

[–] Kyrosiv@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I can’t imagine what last year did to him. Two guys who had no experience being an offensive coordinator in the NFL probably competing for power in the org running one of the least talented offenses in the NFL can’t have been good for his growth into a mature NFL QB.

[–] Chirpy69@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Did him no favors with the chosen picture lolol

What a great photo

[–] Bobby_Newpooort@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Can you believe that moron decided to throw a 50-yard bomb to an open receiver? And then, in the same game, throw a slant to the open receiver that hit him right in the hands?

Infuriating!

so much dirt coming out of the org right now lol

[–] someonepoorsays@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

don’t worry pats fans, josh mcdaniels will cure him

[–] Competitive_Bar6355@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Why would this QB whose development we completely botched play so poorly? (Yes, I understand he was never going to be great. But they didn't do him any favors).

[–] FrequentFryerMiles@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Looks like that entire QB class is shitting the bed, outside of Lawrence.

[–] FeralFloridian@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Lets play a game,Of the offensive starters who from the patriots would start on the Jags.

I'll also take answers that swap out the Jets in place of the jags for extra spice.

[–] Dave10293847@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Maybe just 1 or 2 offensive lineman. Douglas would see the field in the slot a few plays a game. That’s about it. 3 that would see the field. The rest wouldn’t even be rostered let alone start.

[–] RmembrTheAyyLMAO@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Jags: Trent Brown. Bourne (RIP) would be a starting WR3 if you run 11 personnel.

Jets: Mac, Brown, Andrews, Bourne (RIP)

So they’re mad at their own poor coaching? Got it.

Brady was “the Patriot Way” and it’s more obvious by the day

[–] hoesmad_x_24@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

And somehow, his dogwater QB play is still better than what the OL or WRs manage

[–] bauN7@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

My issue with him is that he seems wildly mediocre while also being kind of a prick. It's a bad combo.

[–] lavaspike296@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Mac Jones is probably my favorite Patriot of all time.

[–] boardman_get_paid@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Pretty simple, when you don’t have a good line, offensive coaching staff, or any real WRs, the QB doesn’t look good. How many random drops, missed deep ball catches have there been just this season. Moreover, having a WR who can actually make plays consistently either by winning at catch point or getting quick separation is crucial for good offenses. Think of how many more first downs and yards burrow gets because jamarr chase is special. Mac does not have a single wr who can win consistently

In other news, water is wet.

[–] UpYoursMods@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Mac hit Juju in the hands marching downfield for game winning drive. He made some terrible decisions, particularly v Cowboys, but he’s not the biggest problem with this offense

Yall, I’m tired.

[–] MyDogIsACoolCat@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I get he hasn't been the best, but they also have nobody to blame but themselves for surrounding him with absolutely shit weapons for 3 years.

[–] atreyus_ghost@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (6 children)

Shit line, shit receivers, shit coaching.

Patriots: Why would Mac Jones do this to us?

Maybe robbing him of an actual offensive coordinator in his second season wasn’t a good idea?

[–] shank1983@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Don’t forget weapons and an OL worth a shit. He’ll go somewhere and have at least Baker Mayfield/ Ryan Tannehill level success.

[–] Dragon420Wizard@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Well, they had Brady for 100 years so they had to come back to mediocrity at some point.

[–] MrCarey@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Outside, too, I think.

[–] bystander993@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

For all of the apologists, go watch the tapes. I've seen more than one occasion live where Mac is just oblivious. I've watched Parker run across the middle with 3 steps on the DB and Mac wait to throw so late the DB caught up. I've seen deep passes to receivers that beat their man lobbed up so softly that the DB catches up. I've seen him lock on to one covered receiver while another is wide open, and then opt to turtle and wait for the outside pressure to come before it was ever a threat and when he could have even easily slid to the right in the pocket. I've seen him panic to ghost pressure and just throw absolutely terrible balls directly to the defense. I've seen him drop back and never try to slide up into the pocket and even go further back while the outside rush runs around the tackle. This kid is playing some of the worst QB I've ever seen. He is the anti-Brady, cannot overcome any adversity.

[–] mbrogan4@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Mac Jones went from the premier college dynasty to the premier professional sports dynasty and shat the bed so badly their going to implode the program.

[–] Resident-Row-335@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I actually have been loving it

[–] ChetManley20@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Lmao “he loses to Washington that’s the last straw”

[–] tewmtoo@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Lol they really love hyping the drama don't they.

[–] chocjames43@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Great article that has exactly one real example of bad decision making. Sounds more like the scapegoat planning for NE is getting underway.

Remember all the handwriting of Mac vs Trey Lance? And then after last year everyone was sold on Fields and made jokes how everyone missed out on him?

Lol

[–] TheOvercookedFlyer@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

This is on the Patriots, not on Mac.

[–] dagreenman18@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Oh I’m sorry. Did you get addicted to GOAT? Did someone get addicted for GOATs?

Something about how he talks and holds his face, reminds me of the small group of older students, at least one of whom tucked their shirts directly into too-high tighty-whiteys.

[–] Uniblab_78@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Losing to the commanders means you have serious problems

[–] karmint1@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

You mean when it's 3rd or 4th and 4 he shouldn't ignore the wide open check-down and shouldn't throw the bomb to the guy being double-teamed? You sure?
