I think the ManningCast would be better as a separate post-game show. It's often hard to follow the game while watching them, so I watch the regular broadcast instead. And it's not like ESPN has something better to air after the game. They just go to filler.

[–] bird1434@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Everybody with common sense knows thatp the problem is that the show became inundated with guests that literally no one cares about while they’re trying to watch Eli and Peyton chat shit about a football game, but something tells me the network may take the opposite message.

Even if they do get it, it may be too late. I’d rather just watch Troy and Buck at this point.

[–] Striking-Ad-8694@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Maybe if they focused on the god damn game I’d watch. The goal is to watch a football game. If you want to be our commentators, cool I’m all for it with your knowledge. But to make it to where you’re not even paying attention? Just not watchable for a live show if you like either team. They need to fix how they broadcast it because every time it feels like a YouTube video with Peyton’s noggin taking up one half, Eli 3/5, and the rest, the actual game, that’s a little sliver bunched in so that you can barely tell it’s a game. A new show runner or producer is drastically needed

[–] StefonDiggsHS@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

dude they need guests to talk about football. the game. not a book, a new show or movie, talk about the game of football. When Payton and Eli break down coverages and playcalls thats the absolute best part of Manningcast. sadly thats like 10% of what they do on the show.

brady was great on the show. talked shit and went down to diagnose plays of the game right after. need people who actually play football.

[–] BobbyVuitton@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Doesn’t help that you can’t watch it on TV in Canada now.

[–] restless_vagabond@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Dear Manningcast intern or producer who is tasked with monitoring this thread.

You have taken an amazing concept and overproduced the hell out of it. You literally have two incredible football minds watching a game together and somehow managed to make it not compelling and not about football.

Some ideas work really well. The giant head prediction board is great because it is about the game. Demonstrations of "behind the scenes" information is perfect. Other football players(or people who really know football) that talk ball and share experiences are great. They can even cut off a story to comment on a play in real time.

Having late show type guests that get asked cringe worthy questions are not interesting in this format. I know some producer is tasked with "increasing our meme worthy content to attract audience numbers from a certain demo to expand the reach of the brand" or some similar corporate bullshit buzzwords. Make a another athlete podcast if you need to, but the game is such a huge part of this format.

Peyton and ELI usually have good instincts about this so hopefully they can override some producer and get this product back to a watchable state.

[–] fullmetalutes@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I don't watch because all the ways od accessing ESPN suck balls. ESPN + doesn't even include actual ESPN.

[–] Brohan_Cruyff@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

manningcast was fun when the main crew sucked. it’s joe buck and troy aikman now. why bother

[–] Boltbacker83@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Because it’s the worst thing in sports television.

[–] steakfarts@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I love it, still superior than generic bullshit.

[–] AngelicRock@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

More Will Farrel and make it slippy

[–] stuzor66@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I wish they would drop the interviews. Eli and Peyton talking about the game is enough for me. When they have interviews I switch off and now that the main crew doesn't suck I forget to switchback most times.

[–] ObscureFact@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The whole point of the show was to hang out with two QB's and get their insightful, sarcastic, self-deprecating and funny comments on the game. Now it's basically an ad running during the game.

Who ever is running the program took a good idea and turned it into crap because all they can think about is how to maximize profits for themselves.

Hey, MBA's, here's an idea: if something is good and makes a little bit of money, be happy with what you got and leave it the fuck alone.

[–] RaeDiesel@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It is nothing like they present it to be. Everyone wants to watch Peyton and Eli talk about the game. Peyton and his Omaha Productions have to siphon every dollar they can out of this by having people shill garbage on the show. Peyton pretends to care about the game of football while injecting a real life ad that no one cares about. It will be one of those "what could have been" things that's just going to disappear. I can't say that I feel the least bit sorry for him.

[–] c_o__l___i____n@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

My problem is the guests and I feel like it’d work a lot better if they were in the same room. I have no problem with celebrity guests but please put in some that actually want to watch the game. Like maybe 2 guests are fans of the teams and have them them tell stories of how they became fans. Like (for example) get Tim Robinson and Guy Fieri who are Lions and Raiders fans respectively.

[–] ShakeMyHeadSadly@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Well, same 'ol, same 'ol, does get old after awhile.

[–] Geraldbonedaddyford@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Good, Peyton’s piece of shit human.

[–] IAppearMissing13@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

They lost me the first time I tried listening to that hillbilly ass accent Peyton has.

[–] papachef69@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Talk football and people would stay tuned.

[–] Negative-Wrap95@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

So? I'd rather watch it OTA than pay for ESPN anyway. If I have to pay for it, why would I want to watch Omaha Steaks and his brother mild sauce talk through the whole thing?

[–] IgnantWisdom@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

In my opinion, the toughest thing about the Manningcast isn't the guests. Its that they are competing with the best color commentary duo in the NFL.

If it was Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit on the other channel, you can bet your ass I'd rather watch Manningcast, but I ain't putting them on over Troy and Joe.

[–] Nice-Dog8302@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I mean 90% of the MNF matchups are shit. I’d rather play videogames

[–] DJ_Marxman@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Just stop having guest appearances. The ManningCast is great because Peyton is awesome, and Eli is funny. I don't want to see Will Ferrell or Arnold Schwarzenegger. I want to see football.

It was telling that when they had Jon Stewart on, a man I fucking adore, I could not give less of a shit about him being there. It got in the way of football.

[–] porkpiepickles@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It's about as good an idea as watching an entire game in "Andy's Room" on DisneyPus (eww!)

[–] DEFINITELY_NOT_PETE@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

As a pats fan my love for the Mannings is uh finite lol, but for sure they are not the problem.

Football this year has been ugly as shit and has had some of the most objectionable officiating in recent memory (moving the ball in the Baltimore game to gift a first down, blowing a fumble dead in pats dolphins, etc etc etc).

Straight up the nfl is a dogshit product this year. The games are shitty and the super stars aren’t really superstarring.

[–] andAutomator@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

As MMA fan, I was interested to see that Dana White was joining. However, the actual interview showed he has little to no knowledge of football. The whole interview was pretty awkward and that’s the extent of their interviews I’d seen. If they do those celebrities interview often then I would get tired of it.

[–] Dareal_truth@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It’s bound to happen

[–] fattymcfattzz@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

They need to stop with non football guests, and discuss the game and plays more. It was great when they had Brady and n

[–] corey_kluber@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It’s for casuals, not for ppl here. Not that I would know why casuals would enjoy it either

I got out 4 wks into season 1 because there was so much garbage being mixed into a good alt broadcast. Sounds like it’s gotten worse trying to fish for viral moments or whatever, along with it being an ad fest

Eli is so bad. He has some decent quips here or there but hes bad at everything else. There we just stares at the screen open-mouthed is not interesting

[–] mango_boom@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Shit! I forgot this was on…

[–] Br760@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Too many guests… having a guest each quarter is not necessary at all.

[–] dansnexusone@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I don’t understand how they thought getting a show with Peyton commenting on Monday night games and turning it into cringy bits constantly would work? How do they not realize that the majority of people that want to watch that want to watch because it’s Peyton freaking Manning? We want to hear commentary from one of the all time greats — an opportunity to pull back the curtain a little bit. But they spend like 2/3rds of the show talking to totally unrelated guests and just shit talking each other. No thanks.

[–] trailerparknoize@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Show slows down a lot when they get guests and they’re forced to ask them all sorts of meaningless questions that neither brother cares about. Right now it’s a producing issue.

[–] Lizards_Mouth@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I really don’t want to see the game I’m 2/3rds the normal size with the other 1/3rf just being their faces. Just broadcast together as is, it’s phenomenal. Maybe an online stream for those who want to see all the gimmicks?

NFL for some reason doesn’t realize most of their viewers do indeed watch the games for…football. Not to see Kevin Hart plug his new shitty movie. As soon as ther golden boys in Kansas City got the Taylor Swift bump, they jumped the shark big time and are alienating a lot of real fans. It almost feels like for some games, the football is background music for whatever bullshit they’re trying to shove in your face. Most people watching a Jets/Chargers Monday Night game aren’t watching for the spectacle, fyi.

[–] GiggityDPT@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The Mannings don't want to make the effort to be in the same place together to watch the game and avoid the terribly awkward lag. So why should I make the effort to tune in?

The guests are usually uninteresting and just further detract from the game, which is the reason I'm watching in the first place.

I'm trying to watch the game, not listen to a bunch of vanilla late night show bullshit with fake laughs and childish 100% safe, unoffensive humor.

I just don't see what there is to like about it. Peyton and Eli grifted ESPN into paying them to live-react to the game every week, from their own house, and basically be ESPN's once-a-week Jay Leno. Good for them, I guess.

[–] House56@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Hot take: I’ve really enjoyed Buck and Aikman on MNF. So it was easy for me to switch off of the ManningPlugCast back to the regular broadcast

[–] RukiMotomiya@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Shouting into the echo chamber but I feel like less irrelevant guests would do good work. The entire appeal of the ManningCast was that it was two dudes hanging out who also knew their shit about football. The more it gets away from that, the more it becomes just another broadcast.

[–] SweetToothKane@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I still enjoy it even if I prefer the times with no guests

[–] hashtagwoof@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I watched manning cast one time and was like fuck this.

[–] dytele@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Whenever I see Peyton or Eli on my TV screen I change the channel.

[–] Drakkett@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The clips I see from it after the game are entertaining, but I’m honestly not sure who their target audience is. If I care anything about the game, then I’m watching the main broadcast. If I don’t care about the game, then I’m doing something else completely unrelated.

[–] ubernoobnth@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Byebye guests. Easy save, considering its for the football dorks anyways. Give us our football dorks.

[–] Rainn__40@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

They’re boring asf. Happy for them though they had a good run

[–] Shepherdsfavestore@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Despite a small minority of people have a fervent hatred for Joe Buck, Buck and Aikman are pretty well liked and the best broadcasting duo imo. People are probably just watching them.

Back when the ESPN crew sucked more people would watch the mannings

[–] Silkies4life@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Honestly, they missed a few weeks so wasn’t sure if they were on or not, but also Monday night matchups have been kinda bad this year. Packers Raiders? Lions Raiders? I like the Lions but I’m not exactly thinking that’s a marquee matchup.

[–] DarkCushy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The shitty guests ruin it so much

[–] fucuntwat@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Stop doing guests. Just Manning + Manning breaking down the game. Don't force an interview in where it isn't needed
