Following tonight's overtime loss to the Sacramento Kings, new Trailblazers center Deandre Ayton has shot just 3 FTAs all season.

Ayton had a free throw rate of 0.048 before tonight's game. Has there ever been a center more contact averse?

Ehh. That's pretty bad but it's not like he usually averages much more. His game is just not conducive to getting calls. It's maddening but it's already well known. Which is a shame because for a big man he can actually shoot free throws

Ayton has always had a shit whistle idk if it's because he can't draw contact or maybe he fucks the entire ref crews mothers pregame but this isn't a new issue

Go look at his suns numbers. The dude doesn’t get a whistle ever it’s kinda wild. Like yeah he don’t try that hard too often, but even when he is I think his body language and Bahamian demeanor screw him over with refs

Portland is happy with Ayton's game. We don't need him risking injury to get to the line, especially with Rob out. His middy and lob offense is sufficiently deadly and his most valuable contributions are rebounding and defense.
