What player in the NFL, past or present, would you have wanted to see succeed so badly but due to injuries, off the field issues, or whatever happened just derailed their career? For me it was unfortunate to see players like Josh Gordon or Justin Blackmon have their careers end or never getting back on track because of off-field issues.

RG3. Guy could’ve had a HOF career

Dan Morgan would have been an all-timer if not for the injuries. He broke his leg after 11 games his rookie year, had 5 or 6 concussions, partially tore his achilles, and had several other injury issues after having no real injuries in college. He still holds the Miami career tackle record.

Justin Blackmon would have been a top end receiver if he could've given up weed and booze.

Frank Gore entering the league without 2 shredded knees.

Tommie Harris was a beast before his hamstring was torn in 2006.

Terrell Davis was an absolute machine but ended up gimped by injuries.

Joe delaney died at 24 trying to save drowning kids. He had Chiefs records that stood for over 20 years. Id loved to have known how good he could have been.

Stedman Bailey and Joe McKnight for me for sure.

I really feel like Brady Quinn would have been more successful if he didn’t land with the Browns.

Ricky Williams could have gone down as an all time great if not for his off the field stuff.

I think AJ Macarron seriously could win the Jets a Superbowl right now. A dink and dunker can work in this league. I was sad my Bengals did him dirty. But how could you bench the red rifle after 2013?

Josh Freeman.

Oh, Josh. I just hope you're happy and healthy, man.

Patrick Willis

As crazy as that sounds. His injuries cut an already HoF career short.

My good friend swears up and down that Denario Alexander could have been a star in this league of it wasn’t for injuries. Dude was 6’5 with Great hands and a decent 40. Sadly he just couldn’t stay on the field.

One of my all time favorite college players. Rocket Ismail. I wanted him to go straight to the NFL.

I want to know what kind of player Travis Fulgham could have been if he had better work ethic. Those three weeks he had on the Eagles were awesome and then he just stopped trying

Victor Cruz deserved more time at his peak. If he stayed as good as he was he could have been a HoF contender

[–] ins8iable@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The world was robbed of Sean Taylors greatness. The fuckers who killed him breaking into his home got off easy. RIP to the most fun defensive player I can remember watching

Leonard Weaver, Eagles fullback. Joined the Eagles in 2009 and got first team All Pro. In 2010 he tore his ACL on the first carry, it was such a nasty injury and he never played another NFL snap.

That 2010 Eagles team was so good, and is kinda slept on because they got bounced in the Wildcard due to two flukey missed short FGs from a very solid kicker. The team that beat them was Aaron Rodgers' Packers who won the Superbowl that year.

So maybe in some bizarre alternate universe, Weaver stays healthy, the Birds win the Superbowl, Rodgers doesn't get a ring ever, Andy probably doesn't get fired after 2012 (what kind of team will fire a coach 2 years after bringing home the first Superbowl for a team?) and Mahomes never becomes Mahomes.

Leonard Weaver is the ultimate NFL butterfly effect

Ok, I'll say it.. Aaron Hernandez. Horrendous person off the field, but he had the on field talent

[–] Drag0nborn1234@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

My brain thought of about 20 RBs lmao...but the first one was Todd Hurley and I'm kinda surprised he wasn't named in the first few comments I flew over.

Dude had 40TDs in 2 seasons helping the Rams to a SB and was out of the league 2 years later.
