Ok this is kind of impressive.

He's been everything we needed but his 3pt shot is so smooth its ridiculous

Should be, but it's unfortubately not a meritocracy.

OKC literally just drafted the next KD and Harden like it’s nothing. Hopefully they dont trade one of them this time.

This dude is going to be amazing. I bet he turns out best in his class.

[–] siphillis@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You can remove "is going to be". He doesn't really need to do much beyond get a bit stronger and improve his conditioning and he'll be a complimentary piece on a contender.

[–] Los_Ingobernablez@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We got the KD successor

[–] 4th1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Might as well throw every stats in the record books after 4-5 games if we’re gonna track “records” like this smh

I'm expecting a regression to the mean at some point and less eye popping numbers as teams figure out how to counter the way OKC is using him.

Still, he's been incredible.

[–] iCarpet@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Funnily enough, I feel like OKC has so much more potential using him

In the first few games, he would get hot and then never get the ball again

[–] OUEngineer17@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah, they do. There's so much more to be done with cuts, lobs, pnr, and other setups to get him those shots around the rim he is so good at.

[–] Ramu_1798@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Well....he better keep increasing his numbers, cuz we're already 2 weeks in, he just got 6 more weeks to become the best in the league

[–] indoninjah@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Hell you can make it 55/55/90 and he still clears lol. I'm very curious to see where his efficiency ends up.

[–] OUEngineer17@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Same.

His 2 point percentage could go up or down, depending on how well defenses adjust to him and how well he adjusts to them. There is also a lot of opportunity for the team to figure how to get him easier buckets off cuts, lobs, pnr. He's so good at finishing around the rim, that I actually see a lot of potential improvement here.

His 3 point percentage will go down. But by how much? He only takes them when he's wide open and feeling it. He passes up open and good looks quite often.

Free throw percentage? No idea. 90 is so high, but with this kind of start, he has to be a good enough shooter to maintain 80, right?

It's so interesting and I love watching him play!

[–] indoninjah@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Shooting and free throw shooting is subject to fatigue and getting banged up as well. I don’t want to pull the “he’s skinny” card, but he very well might struggle to hold up over 80 games.

Bleacher report had us winning 18 games last year BEFORE chet got hurt

We won 40 bc of an SGA leap and drafting a rookie better than Paolo in Jdub

[–] siphillis@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I get that he's had an extra year in the staging room, but Chet looks like he's already been in the league for ten seasons. Just ridiculous poise and confidence for a 21-year-old, as good as I've ever seen.

[–] OUEngineer17@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He really does play like a Vet already. Everyone says they watched film, this guy actually dissected and comprehended it.

[–] ThyDoctor@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It has gotten to the point if Chet shoots a three I assume it's going in. Seems like he only makes good decisions in terms of shooting.

[–] mehipoststuff@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I had a feeling he would be good but didn't think he would be this good

rooting for him, seems like a cool dude too

[–] hosdaddy69@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Steph Curry but tall.

[–] NJ_Citizen@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

OMG HE IS THE FIRST PLAYER NAMED CHET TO PLAY EXACTLY 8 GAMES IN THE NBA TOO!!!

[–] _Indeed_I_Am_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Can I see 1 through 7 games too?

[–] edwardsscreenname@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Dude is a Ben Simmons rookie.

[–] RealPrinceJay@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

50/40/90 undersells his efficiency, and most 50/40/90 guys haven’t been impactful defenders. Lot of them sucked on defense tbh. Chet’s a real difference maker on that end

[–] Paragon188@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Chet is the first play to win MVP after 8 games. I get it, he's exciting but 8 games is a small sample size. You don't get awards for playing 8 games. If he's shooting 50/40/90 after an entire season, then it's an entirely different conversation.

[–] BelievelandBrad@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I would really like a long rivalry between him and Wemby 🤞

[–] Historical_Orchid841@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Chet is fantastic, but do you guys ever get tired of these cherry picked, tiny sample size stats? They have no value when a new one is posted every single day when someone goes on a hot streak.

[–] povylas@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

New efficiency merchant just dropped

[–] AlacrityTW@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That efficiency is insane but it's too bad he's being sidelined by Wemby. The NBA should. promote both players like the Magic Bird rivialry

[–] HQuasar@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You can't do that because they play for vastly different teams in terms of talent. Magic and Bird were contending for the title, here we have OKC aiming at the playoffs and the Spurs aiming at another tanking season.
