I am sure my idea has been mentioned in some form somewhere but:

Make it USA All-Stars vs International All-Stars, this would be huge for bragging rights. Just look at Lebron lining up other American All-Stars for the Olympics. I think the large majority of players would be into participating.

You could even take it a step further and extend All-Star weekend to a 3-4 day affair and make it:

Round 1: East USA All-Stars vs East International All-Stars and West USA All-Stars vs West International All-Stars.

Round 2: Winner of Game 1 vs winner of Game 2, that way you can still have east vs west for the finals which would determine home court for the finals of the playoffs.

I think this gives players more to play for during All-Star weekend. You could even have a cash bonus for both round 1 winners and the round 2 winner to further sweeten the deal. Bragging rights, cash and home court advantage. Plus you give a platform for even more players to showcase their talents during a huge event that millions tune into. Maybe it would feel a little watered down but being top 40-50 in the world is still a big deal.

this would be bragging rights for whatever fan base wins more than the players, and I don't believe its a flex that the entire rest of the world would have to join forces to beat the usa in a game they don't care that much about to begin with.

now cash, they do care about. but it would have to be a hefty bag for them to do so, since most all stars are stupid rich.

No format change will ever improve the all-star game, unless they make one that stipulates that every player wears a shock collar and will get zapped at full power if they don't try on defense.

every team in the winning conference gets a W, makes it just as meaningful as a regular season game, which are competitive

also teams without allstars are also rewarded i know, but if your team has no all stars you arent winning shit anyway

If everyone gets a W no one gets a W lmao

Move the in-season tournament games to January. Replace the ASG with the championship game.

Whats the obsession with making things more meaningful, the all star game is what it is

Each player on the winning team gets 3-5 extra timeouts/coach's challenges that can be used at any time in the regular season or in the playoffs

Let's get the east vs west back. It is the order of things. It's the legendary ASG west vs east

No need Euro vs USA players. Just make 4 all star teams and do it as tournament. With that way we wouldn't speak the names who deserved ASG but their spot is way too filled by big fishes. And teams would gonna in balance. By International vs USA; International team would have some mediocre players too such as Olynyk or Valanciunas etc.

Give the winning teams performance incentives. It may get downvoted but have always thought about making it so that a Supermax stipulation is you must win at least one AS game as a participant.

To me, it’s fair, you’d probably have at any given point a population of 20-30 active guys eligible that way, which is what the # eligible for Supermax should be anyways
