One thing i would like to say. The Chimera cable is the worst of all my cables. It's microphonic, the earhooks are too rigid, the connectror comes apart while walking and the 2.5 jack just snapped in half in my pocket.

How much did you spend in total on those iems, and if you could replace all of them for only one set (of comparable total value), would you do it and if so which model?

I see a lot of ppl here with large collections of chifi iems, and for me I always prefer just have 1 really good one until it breaks or I want to upgrade (shrugs).

It's about 700$. I would not replace these for an endgame iem. The reason is that i'm not sure there could be one or two iems that can play all genre with the same excitement. Like let's take the zsn pro x. It's not a good iem overall, but when i play the Four Seasons from Seiji Ozawa it beacomes the best of all.

What is the decision to listen to different pairs? Mood, music choice etc?

[–] GawainDragon@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Exactly. I recommend trying a lot of cheaper iems first so you can experience what your style is. Right now the zvx and the c12 are the ones i could exclude. They have a similar tuning i just don't fancy.

No questions, just a comment. You’ve obviously already gone down the Chi-Fi route. I’d strongly recommend saving for a bit more time and go up a tier. The difference is drastic and immediately noticeable and more enjoyable. With the prices in the current secondhand market you’d be surprised what you can buy if you just pooled your money a bit longer and bought something a bit higher level.

Where is a good place to look for second hand items? I’m always a little leery on eBay (if that’s even a viable option)

How do you like your ZVX's?

[–] GawainDragon@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It's good just not my style. I would recommend it for movies. It's an exciting sound. For 15$ more the cadenza is just a better choice for music.

The build and shape feels grate. Tha cable is just bad. Exciting sound. Feels a bit closed in. I would recommend it for movies and videos. For music the cadenza is just so much better and not much more expensive.

One question.. Why so many?

[–] ApolloMoonLandings@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Nice. I still listen to the Mele from time to time. The Cadenza still is my favorite of all of the budget IEMs.

I assume headphones aren't your thing, but I got the Sineaptic SE-1 for $100 (normally $199) and it's something I have not regretted at all. It's an amazing open back pair.

I’m trying to prepare for the 11/11 sale so far I’m juggling between the truthear nova and the s12pro which I believe is extremely similar if not the exact same as the z12

I’ve seen reviews saying the s12pro/z12 has the kind of cold robotic vibe to it that some planar buds have and that it has some sibilance. Would you agree with that statement? What do you think of your z12s?

I am fairly sensitive to really intense treble and sibilance so I would hate to spend the extra bit of cash for an experience I would enjoy less lol

Question: What iem would you recommend for someone coming from over-ear headphone world and likes the sound of beyer-dynamics. 150-200€ range.

[–] GawainDragon@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

When you said Beyer i tought of the Fd5. It actually has a tesla driver like those headphones. It's just out of range for you. I guess the z12 is good if you don't mind trebel and like detail.

[–] sycron17@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

How are you? :)
