With Giannis it's annoying but since they refuse to consistently call it, can't really blame him. He's got bad (relative to how he plays) cardio and that FT routine is his time to rest. Empiid should do the same honestly since he gets to the line all the time and is always gassed.

Before my time, but my Dad always used to say that Don Nelson had the weirdest FT motion he'd ever seen.

Always grossed me out when guys licked their fingers before shooting the FT (Nash and Carmelo come to mind)

My biggest pet peeve is when the shooter petulantly passes the ball back to the ref because they didn't like the way it came to them.

I used to hate Kidd’s so much

Miloš Teodosić used to make me laugh. Can’t find video of his routine sadly. IIRC he does:

1. 2 shrugs;
2. touches side of his head, his shoulder and his hip;
3. 2 shrugs again. Dude only played 60 games in NBA, but is still active in Europe, playing at the age of 36.

Mark Jackson, his thing was imaging the back of the rim so he raised his hand and held an O like the rim, imagined hitting the back of it to help make them

Dude was praying almost a whole verse from the bible before letting it fly.

KDs shimmy used to annoy me but it’s sort of become iconic. But I still hate his FT routine because every time his knees look like they’re going to snap inward when they collapse together as he bends them. Disgusting to watch every time

Hahaha boy do I got a story for y’all. I remember in my youth league I barely got any playing time. One game coach actually put me in during the last few mins and I made some good passes to get us back in the game. We were down one with a few seconds left when I got fouled.

I was thinking ahh man this is my moment. I got this time to be the hero. My try hard ass does the Rip Hamilton free throw routine. I missed them both. We lost.

Anybody that closes their eyes during the routine. (ex. Donavon Mitchell)

Giannis hands down. It still seems like he takes 90 sec to warm up.

It has to be Giannis for current players. Mostly because he takes absolutely forever and still isn't a good free throw shooter (except for last night). I have no science to base it off of whatsoever but I'm 100% convinced that anything more than a couple second routine before shooting is actually going to be more harmful unless you just want a rest.

Curry with the mouth guard for sure. I don't think you can chew a mouth guard in a more disgusting way

One of my favorite things about the nba and basketball is free throw routines and how different players go about it. Melo’s was so relaxed and smooth.

Giannis is very likable most of the time, until he throws the ball back at the ref because the ref gave it to him too soon. That is some diva bullshit.

SGA. He does a a quick shooting motion thing but it looks like a half assed version of what Giannis does at 25x the speed.

Next is Jaylen Brown, who does a similar thing to KD, with the bend down and slow raise up to shoot. The weird thing is that if Jaylen is even a fraction of a second off hood regular timing, or his motion is more staggered up than usual, it’s a 90% chance it gets brick. It’s almost clear as day when he’s about to miss because his form wasn’t as consistent
