I haven't seen it yet, but I am very curious how well Rainn Wilson pulls off this role. Mudd is quite a character.

He plays a more maniacal megalomaniac. It's a fun character the couple times he shows up.
I enjoyed the character on Discovery, but it wasn't the Mudd of TOS and it wasn't really clear how he would ever adopt that Mudd's personality. If you ignore that they're trying to tie the character into canon, it's fine.
