There's clearly an implied indirect meaning there. Also I reverse searched the image, and apparently the middle red X is the symbol of a far-right organization? At least that's the first result.

Did anyone else get something like this?

This is so cursed. I'm not clicking on the ad.

Why are you using a recording app with ads/tracking when there's free alternatives that don't do that?

Like, if you really wanna have transcripts, Google's recording app works even if you deny it network access. Found that out because I was too lazy to look for a proper FOSS solution.

[–] Thadden@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago

I don't know, it just have features that I like and couldn't find on others. Google recorder is not available for my phone :/

And yeah I should check the FOSS alternatives again, it's been a while.

I use FOSS stuff and it ain't perfect. I just personally can not longer tolerate all the ads and tracking

[–] Thoven@lemdro.id 9 points 2 weeks ago

Getting this specific ad one too many times is actually what finally motivated my lazy ass to switch from sync to eternity

[–] then_three_more@lemmy.world 37 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

It's 2025 and you've got an android, why on earth aren't you using a Dns that does as blocking?

[–] protogen420@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)
[–] Sunlightl@fedia.io 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

or NextDNS (https://nextdns.io/) In my case it just works.

[–] naticus@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Or use the app TrackerControl

[–] then_three_more@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I just use nextdns to be honest because I'm lazy.

[–] chuckleslord@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, the limit before paying is so high, you're fine as long as you've not got a whole household on the thing

[–] kylian0087@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago

Because when a ad gets served true the same domain as the content you can not block it. DNS filtering Is good but not a magic bullet

I'm not saying there's nothing dodgy about this because the 3 images with pink in them are clearly IMO designed to trick the eye into seeing nudity which isn't there...

But that red X is the X men logo: https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:X-Men-logo-comics.png

It's similar to the one you posted, but that one has white edges to the black lines, whereas the one in your pic does not.

Very weird though.

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 weeks ago

it's probably a biproduct of that phenomenon.

I'll bet the ads are programmatic and have a complex testing matrix, they're rank tested against each other with other images and the ones that get the most attention win and make it to the next generation - the winners being those that inspire the most interactions probably trends towards those that most closely resemble nudity without being too much of a disappointment.

[–] Cuberoot@lemmynsfw.com 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I now see that the body part in the penultimate image is an eyelid. The first one still looks like pink fuzzy penises to me. What do you think it is?

[–] phdepressed@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago

It's shoes. Fuzzy pink heeled shoes. Had to zoom in.

[–] Thadden@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Yeah that's true, good point. Do you think it's a coincidence then? I mean there's already a double meaning, why not another...

[–] isVeryLoud@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 weeks ago

I think it's just whatever asset they could grab.

It's very clearly meant to be penis, xxx, crotch, naked woman, probably links to porn and is designed that way to avoid some sort of filter on the ad network to detect pornographic or pornography-referencing advertising.

If that's the case, well played. Clever.

[–] lurch@sh.itjust.works 15 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Could be they appropriated it, but it's actually the X-Men symbol from their costumes at least in lots of comics and animated TV shows. See in this poster, for example: https://sportsposterwarehouse.com/products/the-uncanny-x-men-marvel-comics-classic-characters-poster-pyramid-international

[–] Thadden@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Yes you're right, and definitely older. I wonder if it's just a coincidence though. Nothing surprises me anymore

[–] brokenlcd@feddit.it 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Btw if you are familiar with, or already use f droid. adaway is a pretty nice way to stop ads system-wide. It will occupy the vpn connection, since it's how it forces ads to not load. But it's pretty nice.

(Also, be careful with the vpn being set as always on. I had phones that set it like that automatically, anf after uninstalling the app. The phone still expected to connect through a dead vpn, preventing internet access altogether. Fun :p)

[–] Thadden@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Oh that's a nice recommendation, I'll definitely try it. Thank you

[–] ladel@feddit.uk 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I've seen ads like this for Temu (Teemu?) where they have a bunch of seemingly random products and I actually want to click it to find out what they are.

[–] CouldntCareBear@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, they have some kind of formula that looks a bit like this... Something weird, something quasi-sexual, and actual products all mixed in together.

I get ones that always have something that looks like (but on closer inspection isn't) sex toys or BDSM clothing or nudity. Stuff like that.

But I have to say, it definitely works on me, I'm like wtf is that, and then spend a good 30s decoding what it must mean.

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I recommend installing TrackerControl on your Android phone. Get the one from f-droid for full access to all features

[–] Thadden@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Hey thanks for the recommendation! I tried it and it works perfectly 😌

[–] Yermaw@lemm.ee 6 points 2 weeks ago

Its where you can buy Plumbuses

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

...what's wrong with the fuzzy heels or the weird eye thing?

Aside from I know of like two people that would buy the slippers, and that's an indictment of the slippers

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 weeks ago

This is so cursed. I'm not clicking on the ad.

Too late, you're already tracked.
