[Complex Sports] If there was one Curry Camp alum that Steph Curry knew was destined for greatness, it was Anthony Edwards. (video quote in this linked tweet)

Steph when asked if anybody in particular stood out to him in his years running his camp who he knew would be special:

"Ant Edwards for sure. He just had a different demeanor and different competitive presence out there on the court during our camp sessions and even in the showcase game that we had. There were just plays that he made that nobody else really could. So I think that most people who watched that year would have had a lot of confidence in the fact that he'd be...who he wanted to be."

Huge praise coming from Steph. Even more wild that he sensed that because Ant had started organized basketball only ~2-3 years before he attended Curry's camp and was very raw and inexperienced.

The Timberwolves Warriors game coming up is going to be a fun one!

what in the Lebron

It took the rest of the world a whole extra year to catch on and for Edwards to be the #1 pick in the NBA Draft.

I'm happy that Edwards continues to improve and "pan out" as a player as he matures, but there seems to be this weird underdog/unexpected narrative surrounding his improvement/success that I just don't get.

The guy was the #1 pick in the draft at 18 years old, had all the physical traits you could want in a superstar wing, was aggressive on the court and also had obviously a lot to learn and improve on in the game. It would be more of a surprise IMO if he wasn't turning out to be at least a good player by now. People put way too much weight into his supposed "immaturity" and "greater love for football" at 18-19 years old when judging how he'd turn out.

He wouldn't be saying that if Edwards was some bench warmer. xD

Star athletes aways do this. They say they saw something special in some other star that came into the league after them, but only when they're already a star.

Had Anthony Edwards been just a 7th or 8th guy off the bench, Curry says none of this.
