headphones don't have soundstage... unless it's a binaural recording...
large drivers with thick pads will sound further away from the ears (makes sense, right?!) and create "space", but that's not a soundstage at all!

you have either never heard a good soundstage or you are listening to music which is badly mixed or your music doesnt make use of soundstage.
Listen to some Ambient or large classical orchestra using an ATH M50 at first and then swap the phones to an HD800s and listen to the same music again. if you still dont hear it, you are lucky, as you dont need to spend anymore money into expensive gear.
most music is badly mixed/wasn't mixed for a soundstage with headphones in mind
having large drivers that make it seem as if the sound is coming from further away from your head is really not what actual staging is all about... but you do you
Yeah totally. Theu don’t have the most detail but instruments sound spatially distinct and like they’re coming from further away than the back of the headphones. They sold me on the concept of open back headphones
If you’re curious about the portapros, I would pass on them personally. The bass is great but vocals sound like walkie talkie and while the headband looks cool, it’s an ergonomic nightmare
I have KPH40X which I think are better than the Porta Pro for ergonomics. Often background sounds in videos have me thinking someone is in my room. Doesn't happen with my closed backs to the same degree. I am running Yaxi pads.
The soundstage isn't insane or anything but they're crazy comfortable and not fatiguing.
