I recently got my hands on a Cisco Catalyst 3650 from a garage sale for $25. I thought it was neat and just wanted to mess around with it. I don't know anything about networking. I noticed that it has a MGMT port and a console port. What's the difference?

Here's an pic if I'm not clear enough.

Thanks in advance!

The console port is a serial port, not a network port. The cable for it is RJ-45 on one end, usually DB-9 on the other, and I believe it's wired as a null modem cable.

Management port is to configure the device remotely, on another network

Console port is to do it physically Altough i have seen some networks setup to also use it remotely
