The whole point of science is that the conclusions depend on the evidence, not what the politicians want. When you do it the other way around, you get nonsense like Lysenkoism which deny you the technical advantages of having an accurate understanding of the world.

control the way it is communicated to the public and the power to “discipline” anyone who violates the way the administration views science.

Freedom of media and freedom of speech, huh.

Not to mention it's unconstitutional.
