The latest PrusaSlicer versions require OpenGL 3.2 and my machine only supports OpenGL 3.1.

Anybody knows if other slicers can generate gcode or bgcode files for Prusa printers? If so, which would you recommend?

You might find that your hardware exposes 3.2 features via Vulkan and that if you configure your machine to use Zink rather than native GL, you can get a 3.2 context.

OrcaSlicer distributes an aarch64 flatpak with their regular releases, but I'm unsure what version of OpenGL it depends on.

Thank you for pointing it out to me.

I installed the flatpak and it works just fine! I'll have to check if the gcode files it produces actually work okay on our printers, but so far I'm pretty happy with it.

Also, I like that OrcaSlider has features to defeat Bambu's privacy invasion nonsense. I don't have a bambu printer myself so it doesn't concern me, but I like the developers' attitude 😃

Orca Slicer is open source and as far as I know a fork of Prusa Slicer. I suspect that you can compile from source with whichever version of OpenGL you want .. if any.

Disclaimer: I've only just started looking at it for a different use-case, but it seems like it will do what I'm suggesting.

I'll look into Orca Slicer. Thanks!

I wouldn't bet on that: I compiled PrusaSlicer from source and it really does require OpenGL 3.2-only features. I mean it's not like just an unfortunate dependency. Disappointing considering the time it takes to build this monster 🙂

I'm no help, but more out of curiosity, why not run a container for OpenGL 3.2 or a flatpak/snap or just the older version?

Edit: oh you probably mean the physical hardware is not supported for some reason, and I'm thinking at the OS level

So don’t update to newer version?
