I honestly don't see how the average working class adult find that time. I feel like gaming is a luxury for rich/middle-class teens.

Spare time flows around how busy I am, as probably expected. Lately, not so much time is spare. But soon, maybe.

I'll rock out some agario when I get something accomplished, just as a reward. But that's a 5 minute thing and then I'm off again.

The current project will be replaced by some wow or zero-k when it finishes, and I'll seriously waste some spare time then.

Yes. I don't have any kids though.

Since there are barely any new movies I feel truly interested in (and shows, even less so), I guess I do have the time. I just don't have the interest anymore and my tastes, through experience, have developed. I'm a big turn based RPG guy, although I'm also partial to ARPGs a la Elden Ringu, and there are barely any 'decent' games for me to dive into. I'm the kind of guy that plays one game every 4+ months, but if it's not even semi interesting I will delete the game shortly after I pirate it (I'm not paying for disappointment, I only pay after playing and enjoying it enough to feel it's earned). For instance, two years ago I played Outward and modded DOS2, last year I mostly played ER and I replayed Wasteland 3, this year I've played Wartales (and about 20 hours of Clair Obscure, which is still demo time for me, lol) and Tainted Grail (it's okay, better than CO, IMO, so I paid for it), and I'm considering a replay of Xcom 2 (Long War of the Chosen, ofc).

Yes, but not as much as I used to, for several reasons:

  • The titles I enjoy are few and far between these days. Most titles boild down to "just another call of shooty" or something else that offers nothing new.
  • Adult responsibilities takin up a lot of time.
  • Other projects taking up time.

The latest Rimworld expansion looks interesting, though. I'll probably grab it once my current pet project is winding down.

I have but not so much.

Not that I don't have free time in general, I have lots of free time. It's because I also have a lot of hobbies and videogames have to share my time.

It is true that lately one metric I consider very important before playing a game is "it's respectful with my time".

Yes with child, but not like I used to. Used to stay up till early hours and it was no big deal to chill all Saturday playing a game. Now it's all about the quick 30 minute fix. Meh it's better this way.

Yes, but I work a weird schedule with more days off than most (but slightly more hours overall because I work 12 hour shifts) and I'm on night shift, so lots of time to myself after my wife goes to bed.

My work is also pretty chill about what we do with our down time, and there's usually plenty of it on night shift so I've been known to bring my switch in with me and play it at work on occasion

No kids, and we're both kind of homebodies (my wife moreso than me) so we've been known to game together on occasion too.

Last thing I played was Inside. Being an adult with a family and demanding work leaves little free time. Some house project always seems to pop up. I feel guilty taking a lot of time to fuck off. Reading a book feels like a better way to spend free time, also more enriching. When I play a game, it is an indulgence like eating candy. I'm at the age where I want more than just consuming media. I'd rather learn something or make something. Also, I'm way out of touch with gaming culture and unlikely to catch up.

Sure, like 5 hours a week total. But that’s also because I choose to use my free time on other things like staying fit, cooking, reading and writing, if I didn’t i could possibly blay like 12 a week or a little bit more.

I don’t have kids though, and I’m a freelancer so no commute.

I have time to play 1 to 2 games per year. 😭
