Hi y’all, can someone explain to me the point of the in-season tournament? Like why would/should a team care for the tournament over staying healthy for the actual season/play-offs? I’m new to basketball and I’m just trying to understand the whole tournament.

The tournament gives teams a chance to prove that they're the best team in the league.

Winning the Double Crown in a season is better than just a regular championship season too and is important for ranking the historically great teams all time.
