I know I’m a little young on the sub, but im wondering what are some good things to sell in highschool? I’m a young g kid trying to start up a little side gig to make some cash, lately I’ve been getting into things like this and I really would like to learn more, maybe in the future I’ll start a real business!

You're not too young to start your journey. its freaking cool. Start with what you're spending your money on and find a way to deliver that in a faster, cheaper, or better way.

Candy is the most obvious example. But weed or adderall is more profitable

[–] Alarming-Mix3809@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Please don’t sell drugs or weed, so not worth it.

Lean into what’s popular and hot. Look around. I had a friend score selling a couple cases of Star Wars figures and his collection was complete and free.

I sold sports cards and expanded into memorabilia all through high school. Made great money.

I used to sell candy and soda in high school for decent spending money.

In my town, high schooler sold fattoush (salad) dressing at school. It was his mom's recipe, and higher Arab population at the school so lots of it sold.

Depending on where you are and what other kids are into, you can think of something unique like that.

Cakes, always a winter! Start small then find out the ones they like the most!

I had a friend sell packs of gum. In 4 years of high school he made $1M+.

Bought a bunch packs for like $.25/ea then he’d sell them for a $1 or $1.25.

[–] rhombusordiamond@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

He did not. This would require selling 1 pack per day to almost 1400 students. Every single student for every single day for 4 years.

I used to sell blackberry's spare battery. Make some decent profit. Just look around what is the problem, and solve it, money will follow. Dont worry about profit first, learn how to sell first. It's number 1 skill imo

When I was in high school something’s that seemed to work:

I sold energy drinks out of my locker first thing in the morning (vending machines never had them), Gum, and some odds and ends snacks.

I use to be big in the iPod modding scene (goodness makes me feel old), so I’d offer to install rockbox and doom, or install custom themes from a menu, or charge extra to make them one. Once iPhones came out I’d offer to repair broken iPhones and iPods as long as I could get parts. Kids break their stuff all the time, or use to. I’d also jailbreak their iPhones and iPod Touch(s) this again was back in the glory days 😂. I also went through an A+ certification class so I’d help fix computers and laptops to the best of my ability.

There were other things through the years, I was handy so I’d offer to find them parts in the salvage yard when I went picking for car parts. Sold a couple belts made out of old seat belts. Kids spend money on stupid stuff should be easy.

I remember those days, what are you doing nowadays?

[–] idealistintherealw@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Candy bars (at school)?

Collectibles locally sold on eBay.

Someone else said tutoring, I think that's a good idea. If you no big brain and in 9th grade, tutor middle schoolers.

Childcare.

Get a club membership like at Costco or Sam’s club and check Groupon they have membership specials sometimes that include free items. When I sold in high school I bought airheads 90ct for ~10 dollars a box made 30(20 after reinvestment) 3/1$ was my go to usually or variety chocolate bars/candy with somewhat larger margins, but bulkier. Best of luck to you

[–] alwaysweening@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Energy drinks.

Mark up $1 from Costco price. Use Venmo/cashapl.

Make $10-20 a day. Sell on Thurs, Fri, and Mon.

(I sold smokes and alcohol as a minor. Energy drinks would’ve been so much easier)

I sold candy, bracelets I made, and I think those are the only two things I can mention. I was an unscrupulous sixth grade entrepreneur with a self made gambling setup in my school bag. No reason to sell or do unscrupulous things though, because there are plenty of legal things.

I also sold football helmets that came from gumball machines.

[–] Illustrious_Sky6688@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

My first thing was unlocking iPhones then I moved on to taking them apart and selling them with those gold plated backs on them. Make sure you’re interested in whatever you choose

Grind video game characters for games like WoW or get followers on social media accounts and sell them to kids with money.

[–] accidentalciso@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

In high school, I could see a side hustle selling things like t-shirts, hoodies, and stickers being successful, as long as you can come up with cool designs. Those could be sold online easily, too. Selling candy might work (assuming the school allows it).

[–] Bluecheescak@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

A kid in my high school used to sell scoops of pre workout in lunch XD.

[–] cash_flow21@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Lawn-mowing services. That was my hustle in high school and I made way more money than all my high school peers at the time

[–] zipiddydooda@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

I sold candy! Learned a lot! Made a few bucks. Give the people what they want.

[–] Bob-Roman@alien.top 0 points 10 months ago

Stick to the books and get a job in store. This way you will make money and get to learn about how to business is managed or mismanaged first hand.
