Chronographs are too hard to read and sometimes it seems like the designers couldn't give 2 shits if you're trying to tell the time
Watches
A community for watch & horology discussion.
When people try to explain various ways they use the diving bezel for everyday uses such as cooking timers, timing a trip etc. pure cringe.
Not that I’m afraid of downvotes, an appropriate post just hasn’t come around lately.
If you’re worried about a reasonably sized watch being too big, spend less on the watch and more on a gym membership. If 38-44mm looks big on you, skip the rolex. Buy a seiko and do some deadlifts.
Does it feel kinda cheap? Yes. Does it bug me that it's mostly plastic? Yes. Does it bug me that the crown isn't screw down? Hell yes.
But I love my Luminox.
And the Atacama is Frick in pretty.
I love and covet most RM models. Being forever priced out of ownership will make this a theoretical exercise for me anyways.
I like Hublot.
Fuck it branding does matter. I'm not wearing an Invicta that looks like a Submariner. I'm not wearing a Cadisen. Would honestly rather wear a fake - both are faking anyway
I think anyone that would spend more than 1000 dollars on a watch is a sucker.
My $200 quartz microbrand watch is more interesting than your Aqua Terra
It's a fine watch, very decent value for the specs, but the styling is fairly boring yes, not bad, very classic as is the intention but it's not a stone cold stunner.
Everyone should sell their stupid mechanical watches that keep shitty time and cost more than lots of people's cars and buy a damn Casio...I mean I'm not gonna but still...
I like Quartz movements. For me when it comes to watches, its more about how they feel and look, than what’s the movement inside of them.
Grand Seiko logo in the gothic font is straight up ugly, and wrong-looking.
I am not a fan of chronographs, with the possible exception of the Navitimer.
Just think they look too busy and I don’t understand why so many people get a boner over being able to time something to the 1/10th of a second!
Also, NATO straps are horrible and make any watch they’re on look shit.
Someone in this thread said small watches look good on men, but I think the real unpopular opinion here (on Reddit specifically) is the opposite. To my eyes 36mm and below pretty much always looks too small and feminine on average sized male wrists. Justifying the look by saying they used to do it in the past and calling it "classic" styling isn't much different than wearing oversized suits, undersized ties or fedoras because your grandpa wore them.
Quartz movements, especially high precision Quartz movements are objectively superior to mechanical movements
Many GS look bland and share a close DNA design with other bland Seikos. I especially dislike the bracelets. A few models are gorgeous though, such as the Skyflake on leather.
I strongly dislike the PP Nautilus, nevermind the Aquanaut
I don't like diamonds on men watches
I havent avoiding posting it for any reason, but tudor as a brand does nothing for me. I think they are all boring.
The aqua terra looks so generic to me; like something a basic boomer would wear.
I think the Petronas formula 1 IWC watches look ridiculous.
The Royal Oak, Patek Nautilus and other associated designs are ugly.
Yes Genta contributed a lot to the watch industry but every time I see one I think they look hideous.
I have no idea why you’d pick a Nautilus over another Patek design.
Audemars Piguet is overrated and is only being carried by the fame [or infamy] of the Royal Oak. Time to kick it out of the trinity and give the splot to Breguet or ALS. Heck even JLC.
