Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.

"Dems demand what they're entitled to by law."

[–] WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world 29 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

"Americans still believe there is a rule of law and they do not live in a fascist kakistrocracy"

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 20 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Its completely reasonable to hold people to standards that they don't want to be held to :3

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 weeks ago

Fuck you I refuse to wear pants when I am relaxing, I hold societal standards to contempt on that one.

[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

But ICE just changed their policy to keep out politicians. So, obviously, ICE can make their own rules. /s

[–] lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What would you like to see them do? Be specific please

Congress sits around while the executive branch rips power out of congress. LAWS are being broken and ripped apart and they do nothing. Secret police roam the street, the get YouTube clips.

What to do?

  • Marshal support! take over agencies to support their investigations
  • they control money, money isn't being used as the law requires, SUE THE FUCK OUT OF EVERYONE. stop fucking around clutching your fucking pearls "oh golly gee, I shall write a strongly worded letter to the White House, tee hee"
  • enforce requirements of executive branch to present and defend evidence of their actions
  • actions? Illegally dismantling institutions, extending the executive power to a madman billionaire, challenge bringing asbestos back (yes!)
  • get support from the senate to pursue, oh, I dunno an illegal bombing on a foreign country, completely being ignorant of your national security apparatus, issuing decrees on a social media site
  • sue the fuck out of the Trump family for enriching themselves on the executive tit
  • ANYTHING

now I challenge YOU to tell me what congress has done

Yes. I'm over the top, but it's 1930's up in here and my German grandparents and mother taught me all about yesmen and thuggery

I appreciate this very much. lI’ve heard a lot of noise about “they need to DO something” but it’s never clear what that might be. We need to be articulate.

Commenting “the dems need to [verb]” is much more productive since it gives others a way to rally around your cause and join in. Screaming “do something” makes everyone say “well yeah” and then move on.

They should have a rotating cast of congressman visiting every single facility every day until Trump dies

DHS' new guidance states that "ICE field offices are not detention facilities and fall outside of the Sec. 527 requirements. ICE does not house aliens at field offices."

Ok, got it, so these are not detention facilities.

In their letter, the lawmakers take issue with this assertion. They say that ICE Deputy Field Director Bill Joyce recently confirmed that some individuals have been held at 26 Federal Plaza for multiple days.

Wait though, that's literally a detention facility...

This is a dictatorship. The law only applies to non-MAGA.

[–] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 9 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

DHS Better BEHAVE! Otherwise the Dems will put those Demands in WRITING!

[–] lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

What would you prefer to see that would make you proud of them?

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 4 points 2 weeks ago

That's exactly what this is

[–] Anomalocaris@lemm.ee 4 points 2 weeks ago

ie Dems demands ICE follow the law.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Its almost as if the dems were actually doing something. Almost.

[–] lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

What would make you feel like they’re doing a good job?
