What is even worse is many Canadians with disabilities can not qualify for the disability tax credit due to the qualification criteria that requires you to need assistive care or be unable to perform bodily functions to qualify. Every benefit beyond CPP for people with disabilities is tied to something thousands with physical disabilities and certainly those with mental health problems as opposed to physical, don't even qualify for.

This is why it costs thousands. You have to work the system to get any help and you are not permitted dignity.

I am one of these Canadians, my physical disability is too severe to work but not severe enough to qualify for assistance, and my family suffers through no fault of our own. Please help us!

I was confused as it costs nothing but "enormous amounts of time" and back and forth with doctors to apply.

I had no idea there where for profit parasitic "optional" companies that would file for you.

The whole process should be easier and more automatic.. Like something your doctor flags on your file and just gets prompted to confirm AGAIN some time.

Having to constantly re-apply especially if you have disabilities that make the effort difficult and no family supports is horrible.

With the right doctors. This is a key point.

Doctors who can see your disability and how it affects you and speak to that. Generally that is specialists in your illness or disability. Specialists we are seriously lacking in this country and who are difficult to see at the best of times even as their patient. Wait Times are months and even sometimes years in parts of the country to see a specialist in certain feilds.

There are so many problems with this system and unless people are directly affected they have no idea or enough space in their overloaded day to care.
