[–] Masala-Papad@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

How can you see that?

[–] Paulcsgo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Your poor ears man, go to the doctor. Even when im commuting mine only go up to 80-85 when its really loud around me

[–] ClicheStudent@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

A lot of people here don’t know how hearing works… the most important factor isn’t in this picture. Time. You can be exposed to verrrry loud noises but the time and the time of silence is relevant

[–] MFingCEO@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You’ll probably be fine l would be willing to bet not more hear degradation that what is caused simply by aging.

[–] jonnymars@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Well, can you still hear ok?

[–] Ok_Lavishness7429@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Meanwhile me with December 2022-Nov2023 with constant 100db music (went from Beats Solo pro to AirPods pro 1 and now Sony xm4) basically the only time it isn’t at 100db is in class so that sound doesn’t leak.

Wait, there's an app that lets you monitor headphone loudness?

[–] FlyingLlama280@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’ve been around 90ish for the last year and a half, I can still hear

[–] Sceptezard@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Op I have the same chart in my health app and it’s bs. Do you have your phone plugged into a speaker by dongle at all? I have my phone volume turned to max in my car’s speakers but obviously my car volume is well under 92 db of output, but my phone sees its volume all the way up and reads that as extremely loud playback

I can only ever enjoy music to the fullest by having it really loud. Can’t hear the micro details as well without that. Now at 25 yrs old, my hearing became so sensitive that I can’t use IEMs that are brighter than neutral and it needs gobs of bass as I cannot hear the lower frequencies as well anymore. It really affected my mental health as I cannot enjoy many new stuff as they can hurt my ears. I really fucked up my hearing so young.

In my opinion, EQ affects the resolution/sound quality enough that I refuse to use it on IEMs that are analytical. I will try to go for the IEMs that are warmer than neutral but not too rolled off like the Empire Ears Odin. My IER-Z1R is my upper limit for treble as it’s bright but the timbre is very smooth that it doesn’t bother me.

My fiio app has a calculator for this kind of thing and it says I listen at ~90 dB. Like 95% of my listening is podcasts tho and not all of them are normalized to the same level

Would spoken word be more dynamic than music and therefore throw off the calculators' results?

[–] MrUnicornhorn@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Loll, mines like the exact same. woops

[–] Difficult_Blood74@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
