Austin Reaves is the second two.

I honestly feel like the Josh Green hype was just manufactured because prior to the offseason the Mavs were looking like a disaster and there was no real hope with that roster. Enter the only young guy on the roster who also happens to be pretty athletic.

But looking at it objectively I don’t think there was really much of anything to indicate he’s more than an okay 3&D player

Dame/Giannis - disappointing was expecting a lot but I know it's still early

Wemby - exceeding expectations.. As a rookie, with all pressure I thought he'd struggle, but he's done well and I think will slowly get better and better

Kuminga- he's good but need more from him. He can be better

Disappointed in the whole team (bulls fan). We need to just completely blow it up and rebuild

Exceeding: Cam Reddish

Something to prove: Reaves

Disappointing: Rui

[–] OKCDraftPick2028@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Exceeding Expectations: D'Lo, Reddish, Wood (defensively)

Something to prove: AD (A top 5 player in 1 game then a top 100 on the next game)

Dissapointing: Reaves, Rui, Max Christie, Vincent

Porzingis - Couldn't have hoped for a better start

Brown - hasn't quite addressed last season's issues. Gets his numbers but his effect on winning (so the advance stats say) is lowest of the starters

Pritchard - is playing the right way but his shot is just not falling. Hoping he comes right

Exceeding is Camara, didn't think much of his inclusion to the trade, thought he'd barely play and now he's starting and closing games efficiently.

Something to prove, most would put Ayton for narrative's sake, but I don't think he fits. He's played well for the most part, we just don't have anyone healthy to get him the ball especially on mismatches for some reason. Instead I'd controversially out Sharpe. Sure he's just a sophomore, but he's shown he has amazing shot making abilities, he's scoring well, but now he has to tighten up his efficiency and prove he's THE building block of the future (similar but not identical to Cade)

Disappointing, Grant. Grant iso is my least favorite thing in basketball, he's inefficient, still not rebounding great as someone who should get the 2nd most on the team rn, and just overall has not had as much of an impact on the games as I expected. Somehow Camara, Walker, and Tisse feel more like the on court leader than our current face of the franchise vet. By all accounts he's great bts, but on the court I just don't feel he's doing what anyone expected of him this season

Exceeding: Podz, TJD

Dissapointing: Klay and Wiggins

Take your hate towards Josh Green somewhere else. I agree that we all get diarrhea when we see him attack the rim, but he does all the other things which stats dont show. With him in lineup mavs have best offence and defense.

Lots exceeding expectations. Jaime Jaquez, Duncan Robinson, Haywood Highsmith

Something to prove: Bam and Herro. Bam's mad as hell at the lack of DPOY credit and Herro is mad as hell for the trade noise. They're both scoring (and Bam defending) at career-best rates

Disappointing: Thomas Bryant. In preseason it looked like we finally had a decent backup center in him, but he's already out of the rotation. Moving 35 year old Kevin Love to bench 5 took his minutes

Exceeding: Biyombo

Something to prove: Smart

Disappointing: Ja Morant

[–] Bill_Murrie@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Grayson Allen Bradley Beal Keita Bates-Diop

[–] Epickitty_101@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Exceeding Expectations: Probably Pingus Tingus, like you expect him to be good but not this good lmao. Also, Sam Hauser being pretty good off the bench is a godsend.

Something to Prove: PP, he has flashes of solidity but desperately needs to gain some consistency, I still believe in the PP 🙏

Disappointing: Most of the bench tbh, besides Horford, Hauser, and rarely PP they're mid to just bad

The whole rockets roster is doing amazing . Everybody shows up except for that trashcan Jock Landale. 79-3 I HAVE SPOKEN 🚀 🚀 🚀

[–] ReedWilliams12@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Exceeding: Isaac Something to prove: Suggs Disappointing: shooting

[–] toanlana@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Exceeding: Keon Ellis

Something to prove: Sabonis/Huerter

Disappointing: Barnes

[–] Leggoman31@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'd say Dennis Schroeder is exceeding, somehow Siakam still has something to prove (but if not it's Scottie), and OG disappointments me. I feel like he could be so much better but he's just not really a dawg on offense. His defense is always top tier but he I really believe he could be an all star.

Exceeding expectations: D Lo

Something to prove: Rui Hachimura

Disappointing: Gabe Vincent

[–] Dangerous-Fan4594@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Exceeding: Jayson Tatum

Something to prove: Jayson Tatum

Disappointed: We don't have a Jayson tatum clone so we can have two Jayson Tatum's

[–] sonictank@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Nobody really is disappointing so far, but also none of the guys is putting up bigger than expected. We’re yet to lose the game this season, so that’s good.

Exceeding: Hunter actually. He's really improved his 3 point shooting and finally is learning how to use his strength and length to take it to the hole.

Something to prove: A mix of Murray, Bey, and Jalen. Murray looks like he's been working on being a threat from 3 while Jalen is showing each game he has the potential to be a Ben Simmons with a jumper. Bey has been fighting hard for that new contract so far, I just hope he improves on defense or at least quit getting burned so often

Disappointing: Yeah Trae's shooting has been awful but Onyeka is starting to make me mad. I wished someone would've told him that improving your range is more than just shooting 3s. OO has the potential to be a off-brand Bam or Siakam but year 3 and he still needs the ball fed to him deep in the paint or lobbed to him to make an impact on offense, which is bad since Capela is already the same way but with worse touch. He doesn't have the confidence or drive that put him in high regards lately and it's starting to show up on the defensive side as he keeps on reverting to his high fouling habit and is almost never in position to protect the rim or clean the glass. Him and Jalen are a force to be reckoned with on offense when they're active but both of them in the defensive paint is at least over 10 offensive rebounds for the opponents every game.
