ChatGPT is telling me to go to Antarctica. Not sure about the cost of living there. And besides, I don't think their food game all that.

Seriously though, where have you spent a considerable amount of time and seen no roaches (the American and German types)?

Japan is a no go. It would be tough to find a rental with no roaches. I saw them in each of my apartments. Since I had my house built though, I've been spared the terror. Most hotels would be fine too.

Clean your apartment, don't leave food around and you won't see many roaches.

I've lived in Asia for years and I rarely saw roaches

yeah people from west really underestimate the level of ocd it takes to avoid them. i'm from a cold climate and you can leave the trash out, do dishes later that day or even tomorrow, store food in cupboards etc and you won't get roaches, you won't even really get ants.

in thailand no way, you can't leave like one tiny ass crumb left on the floor or ants will come and after that roaches, everything goes in the fridge, trash gets taken out right away, dishes done after every meal, you have to be super ocd about it to avoid them

if there are people, there are roaches. it's just part of life.

Just cover your shower drain when unused. They all come out from that same place.

No roaches in Germany in the 7 years I was living there. And I lived in an LCOL neighbourhood. But Germany is HCOL compared to Thailand, so…

[–] Benglian@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Never seen one in Bulgaria. Rarely see one in UK.

McMurdo Station has a long history of outstanding chefs. There is competition to go and it looks great on resumes.

What? The US has one of the best culinary scenes in the world, including most things you find in Thailand or anything else in the world that some immigrant moved there and started selling.

You’ll rarely see them in Canada.

[–] edcRachel@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I've definitely seen roaches in Canada in apartment buildings, but thankfully they're not really flying around outside and coming in the windows like they are in other places.

Roaches like heat and moisture, avoid those and you'll be in good shape. You need to find a huge desert climate somewhere. New Mexico in the states first that bill.

I mean it isn’t cheap but I’ve lived in Ireland my whole life and never once have I seen a cockroach and don’t know anybody here that has.

[–] bbr35@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I think I saw less than 5 in my 9 months in South America, namely Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Arg. Some places with similar cost of living as Thailand.

Colombia is sĂşper cheap and while you will see them in the streets Ive never seen a roach in my apartment living for over a year in MedellĂŤn. I dont think They like the altitude and cooler temps as much as super hot and humid like the caribbean or SEA.

[–] Quantum168@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I rarely see them in Australia. There are a lot of other animals and sea creatures trying to kill you though.

[–] wheeler1432@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I saw them in Sydney and Gold Coast.

Also Australia isn't typically similar cost of living to Thailand.

Just buy a cat.

Try New Zealand. Clean, safe, beautiful country with a relatively low cost of living compared to much of the Western world. Plus, no roaches!

[–] NezuminoraQ@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I'm from NZ. They have them - I remember seeing them when I lived in the Hawkes Bay, but not often in other parts

South of chile

[–] Teestyfly@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Don’t go to Nicaragua. I corned one as big as my hand and he decided to go out swinging.

[–] darksady@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Argentina or south Chile probably

I lived in Bangkok for about 5 years in two different condos and I only saw roaches there maybe a handful of times. But both the condos were brand new, no one had lived there before -- I spoke to other expats in other buidlings and some of theirs were infested. I also kept the house spotless -- like an insane ocd level of clean in that i never left the house without doing all the dishes, taking out the trash, never left a crumb of food on the floor, I kept all food in the fridge, even stuff like flour, crackers that don't need refrigeration -- the one time i did that i came home and there was a giant roach on the counter -- literally one time. But if your neighbors are slobs that will also attract them. The other thing is that I lived high up, around the 20th floor or so.

I lived in rural Issan for a while and the bugs were like enormous lol, spiders the size of your hand, butterflies the size of your face, huge bugs everywhere so don't go there.

I lived in Southern USA for a while also, Texas and SC and one place I had in Texas I swear I got PTSD from the amount of fucking giant roaches came into that house, so much more than I ever saw in those bkk condos. I kept it spotless but it was next to a vacant house with a giant pile of rotting wood which is where they come from, and man it was a nightmare lol.

Have u seen wall-e. theres no escape. Resistance is futile

Have you look into the the great Country of >! Ligma !

Clean up after yourself when handling food and roaches have no reason to show up. Easy.
