My 8yr old son really wants a "real" watch. He likes my Maratac Large Pilot, but obviously it is huge. He likes the pilot style. I also think having the inner hours and outer minutes would help him. Any recommendations on a kids or smaller pilot style watch, from a reputable brand? Trying to stay under $150 probably.

Just get him a chinese made Addiesdive pilot watch for sub $100, comes with a Seiko NH35 movement. Downside is it's mechanical which isn't the greatest when it comes to 8 year olds and consistent wear.

And here I thought that kids these days don't know how to tell time on an analogue display, lol.

Check out local pawn shops/jewelers. Hopefully you'll find some good deal, got some great Seiko's cheap.

I've occasionally stopped in a few in my area, just never had any luck.

Citizen bm8180 (37mm, US only link)

[L (34mm)

rdunae ra03](https://i.imgur.com/4du79AE.jpg) - GGW113 - 34mm. Pyobably the best fit.

Lorus field watches. there is one with full lume dial that might be cool for a kid. These are 38mm or 36mm I think.

Berny titanium field watch or pilot watch.

Thanks. I think the Berny might be the winner. He liked it the most. I'll have to look up some reviews, do you have any personal experience with it?

I don't but there are plenty of video reviews on youtube.

Just keep in mind the properties of titanium: it's much lighter than stainless steel and it scratches easier than stainless steel (if it's not treated to be scratch resistant).

I wouldn't get it on the bracelet.

Yeah, I've had a couple of Ti watches. Will definitely be using a nylon / canvas strap for him.
