This seems like a pretty sweet deal. I’ve read only a little on these cans and the impression is that these are pretty fantastic. Do these have a specific purpose? Are they critical listening headphones? I’d like to learn more about them.

I feel like these are usually around 1500-2000. Hard time justifying 3k+ lol

You should consider 2nd hand, you can find these for less than 1000 in mint condition.

[–] Wurkuwurku@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

You can get these normally for 1800

You can get them even cheaper from Sennheiser's AU site, using the code HONEYSAVE at checkout. Comes down to $1,619.10

For that money I'll have two!

Picked up a used pair in mint condition plus Dragonfly Cobalt DAC few days ago for USD700 locally. Pretty sweet deal :)

Woah, I’ve been checking for a month or so around me for a used pair of hd800s or anything in it’s price range and I’ve never seen a deal that good. How much waiting around did it take you?

I have been checking on and off for a while, FB marketplace and Craigslist. Good compliment with my LCD-4.

Someone is selling HD800S on FB marketplace NYC area if you are still looking.

I would love to own an 800 S but that price kills me a little inside

I picked up a HD 8XX for less than half the price. They sounded quite bad at first but after EQing them, they sound amazing. I did not expect to like them so much after reading how many people think the bass is lacking and that it has a boring sound. Might be my new favorite headphones.

This was the legit RRP only a month or two ago. I bought mine for $1400 at the beginning of this year, not a great sale at all.

Consider other options first if you haven’t already 👍

People hate on the 8xx, but with eq they’re really amazing. Especially for the insanely discounted price

If you're going to get them, please try them first. Personally, they are too bright for my tastes and hurt to listen to.

[–] Fbean01@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I quite like bright headphones, but I agree. It’s not so good having cans that hurt your ears

[–] vladesch@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I have some and they are very good. I would have gone for the Arya or possibly one of the electrostatic, but I was concerned with longevity. Heard a lot of bad stories about hifiman and that the electrostatics are rather delicate.

I have never heard of anyone having those sort of issues with a sennheiser.

Just run it on an equalizer if you have problems with the 5khz peak.

[–] priedits@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I dont know, man, I compared hifiman he1000v2 Stealth with HD800s and thought hifimans came on top in all areas expect soundstage.

[–] Renegade-Rooster@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

there is no way cans can be worth three grand...

[–] Omoesnesie@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I absolutely love the HD800s and my HD660s complement them nicely. The HD800s have an enormous soundstage and are very comfortable to wear. I use the HD660s for more intimate vocal music and bit more bass

[–] Daisan89@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

What a scam, lol. Base price is less than 1800

[–] AmomentInEternity@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I personally wasn’t a fan. Thought they were too open and airy. Take that for what it is
