Telegraph article, so the same validity as the crazy dude shouting at the corner

They have to the claims could bankrupt the club

Administration would cost another 9 points. They really be fucked. Interesting times ahead.

[–] prettybunbun@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

O fuck didn’t even think about that. Especially if they stay up this year against weak Championship opponents and then next year the lawsuit happens admin and 9 points, very real risk of demotion.

It’s Black Friday week and got a cracking deal

[–] MDavidHere@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Well £300m is technically over £200m

[–] KungFuFightingOwlMan@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Who are you, who are so wise in the ways of science?

[–] MegaMugabe21@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

What a shocking twist, I thought Everton would just hand over the £200M they don't have without a fight.

To be fair our response to the potential FFP case was to open our books and try and work with the league like a naive baby lamb.

Obviously we should have lawyered up and counter sued given how well it’s working for City

[–] Mozezz@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Well you’ll have to sue the Premier league, because all signs point to their incompetence as they signed off an all financials after working hand in hand with Everton for 2 years

The independent committee admitted in their findings that Everton did not receive a sporting advantage nor was it done deliberately

[–] Opposite-Mediocre@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah, I don't see them winning this personally.

Especially if it wasn't deliberate, and if the deduction was mid-season, there's no way to guarantee that the season would of panned out the way it did.

[–] TheRealSteemo@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Sadly it doesn't work like that for some reason. Our legal battles nearly killed us off as a club because the FA / EFL are incompetent and clubs tried to sue us during our administration, meaning we couldn't find a new owner until we were days away from liquidation.

[–] Mozezz@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah but our case it clearly points to the Premier League being at fault

They signed off on everything, we stupidly gambled, but they signed off on everything

What I don't understand is why Everton?

The points deduction for breaking the rules... fine, arguably excessive, but fine.

But then subsequent legal issues for what basically amounts to loss in earnings? Surely if Burnley and Leicester do have a case (which you can understand) it's the PL that's to blame?

Everton have now been punished. The PL's decision to delay any punishment in the 2021/22 season because of an investigation into new breaches may have meant that Burnley went down wrongly. Their slow investigation last season may have meant that Leicester went down wrongly. Both clubs can feel aggrieved...but surely if there's financial compensation to be had, its the PL that should foot the bill for their calamitous handling of the situation that affected one of those clubs.

Your neighbor comes into your house and steals your dinner on every Sunday.

You also hungry multiple times a year because local cops are too lazy to investigate. They even appoint security at your door but he falls asleep.

After a year the neighbor is finally convicted of crime. You expect the cops to pay back to you or the neighbor who kept stealing?

[–] reece0n@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

No. And that is a terrible analogy for this situation as has already been pointed out to you.

[–] not_a_Badger_anymore@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I mean it's not really the same thing. Teams that have been relegated have to prove Everton got some sort of advantage due to their overspend which won't be easy.
However it's easy to prove the time it took to apply the points deduction did relegate at least one club.

This league is a joke

[–] WorthPlease@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (3 children)

If I'm literally any other Premier League club I'm just walking into this meeting and pointing at Manchester City any Chelsea anytime somebody tries to talk.

City to win the Saudi Treble in 2025

[–] Moug-10@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Why isn't there a coalition of the 18 other teams to sue Manchester City and Chelsea? It could work.

[–] NCL-NYC@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

As I understand it the Chelsea stuff has only just come to light right? I know Man City's has been rumbling out for a while.
