Not only is Chet better right now imo but he's gonna be the better player moving forward. Chet is a far better offensive player and shooter. Wemby has more potential defensively but Chet is good there too

okc fans want to shit on a 19 year old foreigner so hard lmao

[–] revisioncloud@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Bro don’t ruin it for all of us

We can lift Chet without tearing down Wemby

[–] Yommination@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

No. Wemby is doing what he is doing next to bums

[–] Positive-Media423@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Baguette Bol leads in almost all statistics, the problem is that he has a worse and inexperienced team

[–] LogDogan4@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I don't actually think it's an unreasonable position, but man do I hate the "it's time to admit" or "it's time to about" openings to a post.

[–] Frosted_Flakes1971@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Thunder fans need to stop acting like they have 7 rings.

[–] Equivalent_Bet1519@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Thunder fans are so insecure lmao. Get off reddit and go enjoy your young guy

[–] MAMBAMENTALITY8-24@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Bruh wemby is like 2 years younger lol

[–] WernerHerzog69420@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

No, it’s not time to say anything like that. Chet is playing in a vastly superior system than Wemby, and has the benefit of one year on the bench, at practice, learning rotations, going through all the travel and stuff. That cannot be underestimated

[–] sunsbr@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

He is better right now. But once Wemby realizes that he is way taller than everyone else and stop chucking jump shots it's over for the league.

[–] bananaaa_breaddd@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Spending your Saturday night smoking crack i see

[–] Funny-Transition7869@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

wemby just had 8 blocks bruh

[–] sheepish132@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

No it's not. We're only 3 weeks into the season.

[–] WallOld615@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Thunder fans are gonna get so annoying with this comparison. Wemby is so much better of a prospect. Also, Chet is 21 and Wemby is 19.

[–] dank-kush@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Almost like Chet has a year under his belt of nba training and conditioning.

[–] Goodisworthfighting4@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

whadder we dooin B?

[–] rimpressure@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Incoming Brictor fans explaining how it’s actually better to be inefficient and take low % shots

[–] Timelycommentor@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

You’ll get downvoted, but this sub should admit that Wemby isn’t as good as Chet.

[–] PoonGo0n@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Chet is 2 years older with a significantly better team around him. He’s great but I don’t think it’s a fair fight right now.

[–] Bballopinion@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

They’re both going to be really good. Do people forget the Wemby dropped 30 on the Suns just a week ago?

That said, Wemby was always a tad bit overrated. Never saw how he was a markedly different prospect from Chet.

[–] mMounirM@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Chet is an efficient beast surrounded by great teammates that plays his roie well but he's not the freak Wemby is. Wemby's potential is just higher cause he's an alien

[–] WembyandTheWolves@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Nah, Wemby is still the better prospect. Rookies who have sat for a year are always more polished.

[–] Headlesshorsman02@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Currently I would say Chet is better, but Wemby has a higher ceiling

[–] Sofluous@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Slendorkid bows to the Slendergod

[–] TheyCallMeTheWizard@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Chet has the clutch gene. I can’t remember seeing a rookie take that kind of go ahead shot at the end if the 4th… I’m sure it’s happened but I certainly can’t remember one

[–] bb1432@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It's almost as though being two years older, having spent a year learning NBA basketball, and being on a competent team matters.

[–] KYRIE542@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I think Chet is the overall better player now, but Wemby undoubtedly has the higher ceiling and it’s not close.

[–] Thehelloman0@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Holy crap OKC fans have been annoying about this

[–] bobbdac7894@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I would say Chet is slightly better at the moment but Wemby has more potential

[–] D3VOUR3DD@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Chet has a far better team and is benefiting from not being defended as the number one option. Wemby doesn’t even have a point guard on the roster to get him the ball

[–] herseyhawkins33@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It isn't time to admit anything lol

[–] broke_in_sf@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Who's the last great French NBA player?

[–] broke_in_sf@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It's not "time" but I wouldn't be surprised if Chet ends up being better than Wemby. There is a lot of PRESSURE on Wemby. And frankly, most players can't handle that level of pressure. Whether it's NBA, NFL, etc., being the chosen one is a lot of pressure. Chet is flying under the radar (compared to Wemby) and he can just focus on his game, not all the NOISE.

[–] doordaesh@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

IT IS TIME TO ADMIT

[–] Charlie_Steve@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I don't think you know how "prospects" work.

[–] CrissCrossAppleSos@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I think Chet is better than Wemby right now, but I think it’s absurd to draw macro level conclusions based on a sample size of a few games

[–] MaSherm@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It’s silly o’clock already? Jeezus

[–] tigerpawn@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It's been said but I'll join the chorus. Chet has a year of NBA under his belt, it makes a huge difference here. Both will be great and continue to grow but this is extremely early.

[–] bitterpilltogoto@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Is there a way to praise Chet without shitting on Wemby and vice versa?

[–] Outrageous-Abies-273@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

So done with posts like these, not even 15 games into the season.

This is a conversation to be had a few years from now.

[–] pokexchespin@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

player? i can see the argument, i’d give my imaginary roty vote if the season ended today, but as a prospect i’m still taking wemby for the time being

[–] JoJonesy@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

god it is insane how fast people make up their minds about this shit. they've played like ten NBA games each

also chet holmgren is two full years older than wembanyama. that doesn't tell the whole story but it's worth keeping in mind

[–] Danatomatowhite@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Chet has an extra year buddy

[–] IHateYouKids@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

What adrenaline does to a mfer

[–] HQuasar@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Delusional.

[–] Agnk1765342@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I mean I already had that opinion prior to the season.

If you watch wemby’s highlights he looks like the best player ever, sure. But that’s true of a lot of guys. He’s a legitimately terrible outside shooter. The fact he can get his shot off whenever literally doesn’t matter when he shoots 40% from midrange and 30% from 3.

Wemby can be a phenomenal rim runner, but Anthony Davis is probably his ceiling offensively. The idea that he’s gonna be a great shooter someday has never had any basis. His percentages have been pretty consistently bad.

Wembanyama also blocks a lot of shots, but he bites at literally everything. Right now his block numbers are pure empty calories. If you go for everything you can get tons of blocks, but you can also get punked falling for pump fakes from Rudy Gobert of all people (happened to him twice in the same game, yikes) and stumbling into the stands while a guy strolls to a layup because you fell hard for a fake closing out a 3.

Chet’s a better defensive prospect too. That’s what I think most people struggle with. He has 99th percentile measurables too, but he’s shown far, far more actual skill and intelligence defensively, even at Gonzaga, than Wembanyama’s ever shown. He’s got better instincts, better timing, and way better discipline. Wemby’s 2 extra inches don’t make up for that. People wildly overrate tools relative to skill defensively. Having a 7’9” wingspan doesn’t make you Rudy Gobert.

Give me the guy that’s shown the skills over the guy I have to hope develop them every day of the week. And Wemby is a great prospect no doubt. But Chet’s the guy that’s shown GOAT potential. And not just potential, but the ability to be positive in virtually every single way on the court that I can’t remember any other player ever showing.

[–] TheOneWithThePorn12@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

One has one less year of development (with the other working with their NBA for a full season already), and one has a much better team surrounding them. One of them is also two years older.

In conclusion shut the fuck up neph. Its been like 13 games.

[–] thered90@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Saved, I will be coming with receipts.

[–] Dar8_Vader@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Dude plays winning basketball. If I can hand over the ROTY, it'd definitely be Chet over Wemby.
