Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Fuck Mormons. I'm not cursed and Joseph Smith was a pedophilic racist genocider who's only real accomplishment was convincing other stupid white ppl and uncle Tom's that Jesus was white and American so they could feel better about colonialism

I long for the day when I go to my brainwashed parents and throw all of this in their faces. All the lies and shilling and amoral fuckery.

I lost my childhood to that cult. And it wrecked my adulthood for a full decade after.

If anyone needs it, https://quitmormon.com/ was a huge help for me. Lawyer will submit orders to expunge your record from the church for free if you complete a form and get it notarized. I stopped having missionaries and bishops leaving voicemails on my building callbox after that. Nothing like having mystery voicemails from your building box after moving multiple times and not stepping foot in a church for almost a decade.

They want to make Deseret and secede from the US, or simply hold together their fiefdom while everything else collapses.

If they just take Utah, Idaho and Arizona let them go

They wouldn't stop at that I can guarantee you that. Frankly speaking the only proper response to them trying that would be to glass Provo and Salt lake city.

I don't think abusive theocracies have a right to exist. Letting people like that coalesce into a nation-state will just cause bigger problems down the road.

Is Mormonism the most capitalist Christian denomination?

[–] Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 days ago

Prosperity Gospel might top it.

That’s a tough one.

They are certainly transparent about their capitalist fetishes.

Their entire young men’s program is essentially corporate culture training. They have cute little titles and steadily increasing ‘responsibilities’ beginning at age 12.

Deacon, Teacher, Priest and finally Elder at the age of 18 or 19 if you haven’t hopped on the motorcycle of a leather daddy by then, just to get a ride out of town.

Fun fact: Immediately after arriving in Salt Lake, Brigham Young had two houses built. One for himself and another next door for all his wives. The church claims all that polygamy stuff is ancient history but you can walk through the house to this day as a tourist attraction.

I wish the most painful of bowel cancer on Mike Lee

Hey, this article is finding fault with my favorite frontier real-estate sex cult!

Good!
