It’s not that they support the warriors it’s that they’re actively watching the game like fans with no level of objectivity. I’m watching the Blazers broadcast rn and it’s night and day from what I was listening to last night
NBA - Main
Game analysis, highlights and everything else that is happening in the NBA.
OP you are the problem
So if I go away, it's fixed?
I figured I’d trigger you enough to reply with that one lmao
Why do you care so much how fans of other teams view the announcers of your favorite team lmao? Who gives a fuck?
i will never understand why people hate announcers who are homers. i fucking love it, its like watching the game with another fan, they're happy when you are, they're pissed when you are. i do not see one problem with it
Its fine being a homer. Jack Armstrong (the Raptors color commentator) is a certified homer. but there is a difference between what he (and other announcers do), and the Warriors announcers making excuses for Draymond trying to choke out Gobert.
so neutral fans complain about the warriors announcers and don’t watch it. if you like it why do you care ?
Because you only play half your games at home that’s half the season you play with other teams broadcasters. Imagine if half the games you watched you had to listen to how great the home team is even when they are down by 20. Imagine listening to a rockets broadcast when Steph Curry drops 50 but Dillon Brooks scores 35 and that’s all they talk about.
Being biased is fine but you need to have some semblance of balance to it where you credit the opposition and talk about them aswell. This isn’t politics where your side good their side bad.
It’s not bad that they are homers, it’s bad that they are delusional and ruin the game with their whiney commentary.
Take the Hornets announcers. They can be “homers” but I love them because they’re fun; the Warrior announcers aren’t fun.
The warriors fans being insufferable is partly a result of the announcers. When they hear that every call is a bad call and every misfortune is just the league being against their team it is bad for the fans mindset too. It’s also robbing those who have to listen to their nonsense of a chance at learning about the game
It’s cuz they say stupid stuff. Even the most homer-y fans want to feel like the announcers are reasonable people offering at least somewhat intelligent commentary. The degree of homerness in the face of all reason is what frustrates people, similar to Scal on the celtics
What the fuck is up with this new breed of warriors fan that needs to dick ride Fitz? We used to always hate him even in our own sub
They don't have to be fair and balanced but they also don't have to dick about everything and blatantly lies on obvious plays. It's like everything in life, find a goddam balance.
It’s like listening to a non-parody version of this sketch https://youtu.be/GP_K5czbny4?feature=shared
...how are you a Knicks fan and don't appreciate an objective broadcast? Breen and Clyde are the textbook example and still love the Knicks.
Edit: ok I reread and maybe you aren't a Knicks fan anymore, but I'm sure you've still come across Breen and Clyde calling games at some point. Mavs broadcast team is another good example.
Who cares. Let people cry about what they want to cry about.
All local announcers are homers but the warriors ones are just too much
I love sports in general and not just my hometown favorite team so I want to hear about both teams with an emphasis on my hometown team.
I want and expect our announcers to knowledgeable, fair, balanced and hype up and speak highly of other teams good/great players or when they make exceptional plays.
the NBA community is tired of somebody still cheering for them
TBH, Lakers broadcasters are best in the business for this.
Stu Lantz and Bill Macdonald
Go back and get your daily dose of Kool aid from r/warriors bro
OP's inability to grasp nuance or incorporate new information...
As someone who grew up with tommy "the homer" heinson i see no problem with it. Its just modern nba is being broadcast to everyone now so people gunna complain when they watch.
They suck yo just accept it. If my announcers sounded like that I’d listen to the away team every game.
They were insufferable when I watched the OKC v Warriors game. Quickly switched to the OKC feed and worlds better.
I reject the entire premise of the question. As a Warriors fan in the 90s and early 00s, we were the ones critical of the homerism of Fitz when he took over from Papa. He was an overeager apologist for a dysfunctional and absentee ownership. He was and remains a company man, which I can't fault as a survival strategy (that's obviously worked) but has undermined the integrity of the on-air product as far as listeners are concerned. In those days, Jim Barnett gave a perspective that wasn't mired in blind loyalty to ownership, was quick to praise the skill of opponents, and would critique the on-court decision-making of bad basketball in Warriors jerseys. He would often admit on air that the Warriors were lucky to get the break of a bad call. He was an advocate for the game, while Fitz was an advocate of ownership's brand. They did not get along, we have come to learn, and the company man won out, while the excellent Barnett was shown the door in stages. So I reject the notion that it's natural for Warriors fans to embrace homerism, when that has not historically been the case.
People don't complain about Fitz being a homer
People complain about Fitz whining and saying stupid shit, often wrong or unwarranted as well
It's one thing to say "our team is so good". It's another to say "your team is so bad you shouldn't even exist in NBA"
Being "Homers" wasn't the case for past announcing teams for the Warriors. FItz always had it with Barnett offsetting it with his intelligent analysis. The current analyst seemed like he was in the same vein as Barnett, but I was wrong.
I don't mind Kelena but he adds nothing. Barnett is the best at teaching us basketball.
