If you think all great ideas are taken already.
You are just not paying attention enough.
Here's how I got my painkiller Saas idea just by browsing online.
I found a viral post introducing people to HARO.
So did 11k other people.
But one comment underneath caught my eye.
"The only problem I find with them is that now they send me 4 emails per day every day, and I sincerely read like 1-2 per week."
That's a clear problem needing a solution.
So, I came up with an idea of using AI to solve this particular problem for this particular person.

I built it, validated it, launched it. Now I have 50+ signups and closing in on $100 MRR.
Don't just scroll.
Pay attention. Listen. Keep note.
Address a pain point.
You might just find your next big idea.

$100 a month and you're sharing how to be a success?

[–] SE_WA_VT_FL_MN@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Debby downer, dude. Be a Congratulating Kyle next time.

[–] OnewordTTV@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He has 50 sign-ups. Maybe in a year or two he has 5000 monthly subs. The idea is still the same. He proved it works.

[–] Likalarapuz@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Getting started is 90% of the work.

He never said it was a "success". He only said that business ideas are everywhere, you just have to look. $100 mrr for 50 customers isn't much, I honestly don't know the OP's pricing strategy, but if people find it (in)valuable, they'll justify higher prices. There's no reason he wouldn't be able to get $500/month if his value proposition is high enough to solve a real pain point. What the OP did, was validate that there's a problem and provided a solution. With proper targeting/marketing/pricing, the OP should be able to get at least 1000 customers at $4.99/m or if the value proposition is high enough, even $9.99/m. That's $10k MRR, which is nothing to scoff at.

hey I never intended this to be a success story, just a personal story that I hope some people find useful.

$100/mo is not a lot for sure, but I've only had this idea for 4 weeks and to me it's a great start :)

[–] Due-Philosopher-1426@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

OP what process did you follow to validate the idea? P.S. Congrats on a good start!

[–] brad9991@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (4 children)

I don't think all the great ideas are taken. However I also don't think it's usually worth people's time to try and think of something brand new.

So often the best businesses are ones that already exist. Start something and do it better. The main part of being an entrepreneur in my opinion is just starting.

[–] solidmussel@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

How you'll do it better pretty much is a new idea anyway

[–] Some_Notice_8887@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I was thinking this too too many people think you gotta be the first or original. Papa John’s McDonald’s, Facebook are all based off other people’s ideas that were less good. There’s original ideas and there’s improved originality the later makes billions the former is just millions

[–] ZaMr0@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I looked up the creative businesses in my area and found around 10 ranging from graphic designers to marketing agencies, which would seem like quite a saturated market. However just the baseline of how I would do things would be better than 7 of them already leaving only 3 true competitors to innovate against. So yeah doing something that exists and simply doing it better is already viable in itself.

Hey brother, It’s a $100 you didn’t have. Congratulations! -Carl

[–] danielthomask@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

OP is posting this in multiple groups. Are you trying to motivate all the groups?

[–] lanylover@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

„Case study“ lol

[–] shaqule_brk@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Dear OP, I did not understand a word of your post. Could you rephrase it?

[–] shaqule_brk@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

whats haro?

[–] bcisme@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Novelty isn’t what makes money.

Grinding your life away to do it better than your competition is.

Having the social skills to build real relationships with suppliers and customers.

Novelty is for amateurs, imo.

[–] terserterseness@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If you really have novelty that works (makes anything non trivial money wise) then someone with vastly more money than you will clone it and make it vastly better and throw millions at the marketing. It’s indeed better to improve on entrenched competitors as they have different priorities altogether like providing ROI to investors which interferes with feature creation and pesky expensive things like support.

Anyone thinking that is a spade.

[–] jonkl91@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I bought that product and I love it. You solved a pain point I have and it is absolutely worth paying for.

[–] Afraid-Astronomer130@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Thank you, woke up to this and made my day!! Really happy you are enjoying it :)

Moments like this reminds me why I love entrepreneurship.

[–] Jedikkemoedah@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

How did you validate it? :) curious since im in the same process as we speak.

[–] Afraid-Astronomer130@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

happy to share more via chat, sent you a DM

[–] ProfessionalStatus26@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

The idea is an ai that sends 2 emails instead of 4 or reduces the emails u get?

[–] TruckNuts_But4YrBody@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'm assuming you give it access to your inbox and it gives you a weekly summary of all the emails from each source

[–] Afraid-Astronomer130@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

inside each email you get a list of 10+ things too, so we reduce it down to 1 or 2 that make sense, if it's 0 then we skip the email

[–] titanicx@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Who thinks all great ideas are taken?

[–] ThrowAwayhfhdjhxnjd@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Your idea is still an idea or work in progress.

Release you product first then come back

[–] Mercuryshottoo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ok where do I sign up because I'm drowning in haro emails

My I ask how do you go about monetizing your SaaS? I got several pain points I could fix with software just need a way to go about implementing it

[–] Afraid-Astronomer130@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

How much are those pain points costing your customer?

[–] elekchen@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That's an inspiring story! It's incredible how you identified a specific problem and used AI to create a solution. Your approach of paying attention to details and listening to user feedback is a valuable lesson for all entrepreneurs. It shows that great ideas can come from everyday observations and addressing real-life pain points. Congratulations on your signups and MRR growth! It's stories like yours that motivate others to look closer and think creatively. Looking forward to seeing where your journey takes you next. Keep up the fantastic work!

[–] BusinessandBeyond@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Totally agree, you just gotta need to make the idea better

[–] rezayazdanfar@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Did you use open source ai models or chatgpt? And how did you get and define your early adopters?

Congratulations. Now you can write a book titled “from 0 to 100”.

[–] Afraid-Astronomer130@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

that idea is taken probably, but wait...

[–] Apprehensive_Yak_276@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Looks like you did it right. Most people launch then validate after, typically a recipe for disaster.

Validation is also the most time consuming part of building a biz and it's where people tend to fall off. You're spot on though. address the pain point for direction but throw in some patience for longevity.

[–] Afraid-Astronomer130@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Thank you, now it's a game of patience and perseverance

[–] Big-Veterinarian-823@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

You don't need a unique idea to make money. You just need to provide something that others need.

[–] staticmaker1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

that's why we love the idea of boring businesses.

businesses that solve day to day problems.

ideas are cheap, they say, but we think ideas are important, if you choose to work on something nobody is willing to pay, it is essentially costing you the most valuable asset, which is your time.

[–] NoddysShardblade@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

This is obvious if you're around for more than a couple of years.

I'm 40, so I can tell you that everyone thought (and often said) that "all the best ideas have already been invented" before:

  • ChatGPT
  • TikTok
  • Instagram
  • Facebook
  • Social Media
  • Netflix
  • Youtube
  • The internet

Love this success story and the valuable lesson! It's a great reminder that innovative ideas can emerge from everyday challenges. Keep your eyes and ears open, pay attention to what people are saying, and you might stumble upon a pain point waiting to be addressed. Well done on turning that insight into a successful venture! 👏💡 #Innovation #EntrepreneurialSpirit

Ideas are cheap. Execution is value.

[–] Afraid-Astronomer130@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

exactly, ideas are worth like $20

[–] caveman_eat@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Is this the first business idea you made a product for? Do you have a background in AI?
