Crazy to think we’re on the final half of the regular season games. Time flies.

[–] RadiantCity311@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

what has this guy done this season to deserve mvp when he's probably the most bailed out qb I've ever seen.

[–] Knock0nWood@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Is that a joke?

[–] Nuclearsunburn@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

CMC, Garrett, Hill are all viable non-QB candidates. And could argue have been the most valuable for each team.

[–] jnobes7@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Tua with better stats than both just scratching his head at these media narratives all year.

[–] Test4096@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

90% niners fans whining in this chat lol

[–] RubbrBabyBuggyBumprs@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Wait but Zach Wilson beat Jalen Hurts.....

ZACH WILSON MVP 2023!

[–] Aggravating-Yak2099@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I love hurts but no way. I feel like it should go to a defensive player for once this year

[–] SapientissimusUrsus@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If there's any season a defensive player deserves it this is the one. Mahomes has had a stinker game with no TDs and generally has struggled to get numbers with a rather weak receiving core. Hurts has been turnover prone and while clutch has also made some extremely costly mistakes even though we've miraculously managed to come out with the win anyway consistently somehow. Those are the best two QB options? What about Miles Garrett leading a defense which is carrying a sorry ass offense? Can we just officially make it a QB award at this point?

[–] TIandCAS@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No one has been great this season and hurts is leading the team with the best record, it’s more of a winner by default

[–] ClavisRa@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

MVP should go to a player have a great season. No QB is having a great season. Give it to someone else. Live a little.

[–] House56@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Imo it’s Tua as of right now. The Dolphins offense has put up insane numbers passing and rushing this season with him fully healthy, and his numbers are right up there with the other top QBs.

He’s been the literal definition of valuable to their success when you compare it to what they looked like without him last year.

[–] GoingFurtherBey0nd@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Imo for me it’s Purdy>Tua=Stroud>CMC>Tyreek.

The 3 qbs are all high/leading the league in multiple statistics and CMC and Tyreek are having ridiculous seasons.

Put purdy and tua so high because their stats are good but they could’ve been even better when you consider that they’ve both been benched multiple times with a lot of time left in the game.

[–] Underlord1617@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Honestly this year's mvp shouldn't even be a QB, there are so many other players in other positions carrying their teams.

[–] durablewaffle@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Stroud, Tyreek and CMC should be top 3 realistically. Hurts has been good but not MVP level.

[–] Jumpy_Television8810@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He made one good throw all game and barely had 150 yards. I’m not even convinced he is the best Jalen on his team if you takeout position value. Purdy, CJ stroud, Tua, Lamar, CMC, Hill, TJ watt, miles Garrett, Mahomes, Dak, have all played better than him this year. He had a great Super Bowl and has been winning a lot of tough games with his defense but MVP is crazy. Also the Purdy disrespect is unreal he is having a historical good year and is only a concussion and a 40 yard missed kick away from a better record than the eagles. He leads the NFL in yards per attempt air yards an attempt TD’s per attempt QBR, passing rating completion percentage. Yards and TD’s per drive he is on the field. He is bottom 3 in turnover top 5 in TD’s 6th in yards despite the 9ers being 32 in passing attempts. Only two players all time had a season with more yards an attempt both won MVP as did the the one right below him in the stat.

Nfl needs an award for just qbs like the Cy young in baseball

[–] Particular_Ad575@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I've seen some people argue against Garrett winning by comparing him to Watt's 2014 season. If its not immediately obvious why this is silly it's compounded by the fact that no one is going to coming anywhere close to a prime Rodgers 38 TD 5 INT 16 game season. Regardless of who you feel should have won MVP in 2014 we need to stop pretending that a defensive player should have to out do JJ Watt to win MVP, they need to out do the players of THEIR respective season and that is all that is relevant.

[–] alienbringer@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Hurts didn’t look good that game though. That was all Chiefs pass catchers dropping everything and Eagles D.

[–] Fiesty1124@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Hate the narrative of just the QB on the best team should win it

[–] dantewhitney@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

he hasn’t even been the best QB this year, he’s just on the best team

[–] Nachtvogle@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

how the fuck

HOW? DO these people watch the actual games? He had 150 yards, and interception and a rushing touchdown. What the actual fuck are we talking about. Yes, those were the two superbowl teams. They also both played like absolute ass offensively and neither quarterback was even remotely impressive

[–] flyover_liberal@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Sad thing is that Mahomes outplayed Hurts by a significant margin ... but KC's receivers just sucked like a black hole.

[–] Nerfeveryone@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I may not like the guy, but Tyreek has been playing on a different level from everyone else. I feel like he should be the front runner right now.

[–] hoppergym@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Can people who vote on mvp make bets on who wins mvp?

[–] Handsome-Jim_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Was Mahomes the front runner?

I mean it's not like he's having an especially great seasons. He's on pace to have the fewest TDs and yards with the most INTs of his career. In fact I'd say he's having a slightly worse season than Dak Prescott who don't think is playing at an MVP caliber.

[–] highangler@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Did he really “up” mahomes though? He had 109 yards and a pick midway through the 4th.

[–] ClaymoresRevenge@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'd honestly be interested to see if anybody outside of QB can win it.

[–] No-Arm-@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

But they're in opposite conferences...

[–] Sticky16@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is finally Drew Brees' year

[–] Wezzleey@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If the season ended now, my vote would be that no one gets MVP.

[–] temp1211241@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

How, after that performance, does either of them rank as an MVP front runner?

[–] Never_Forget_94@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Imo it should be CMC if he keeps it up.

[–] Vanilla_Bear15@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

People get mad about betting markets for no real reason. He’s the QB of the team with the best record in the league. There is no obvious QB candidate and the non QB field is muddy. The MVP won’t be decided until the last 6 week anyway, as it is every year
